Challenge 307: Crossover
Title:On An Elder Shore
Word Count: 335
Notes: This really feels like it's missing something, but chewing over it any longer is clearly not going to help. Also pretentious titles are clearly the best ones. >>

People ignoring him was one thing, weird as it was. He could pass that off as this being an insular world - a lot of the really bright ones were. But when the first kid his own age walked through him, that was too much. For a moment he was frozen, staring at the world around him like it might vanish, and then he backed away into a dark corridor.

He wasn't even sure where he'd ended up, except away from people. It looked like he was underground, and everything seemed solid, and for a few moments that was enough.

"Well now. What have we here?" He tried not to react, but he heard Ansem laughing at his indrawn breath.

Worse was the voice's reaction, laughing in a clear echo of his passenger. "Oh, this is interesting. Hello, child."

The world shifted around him, the walls turning in the shadows and revealing a proper room, with some kind of a light behind him - and his own shadow stretched away from him, resolving into a man who, just for a moment, looked a bit like Ansem. He ignored the murmur of appreciation inside him. "Who are you and what do you want."

It got him a frown, at least. "Didn't any one teach you any manners before they gave you that toy, child?" The frown shifted into a smirk, and the voice was at his ear again in the next sentence. "Oh, but you wouldn't know how you got it, would you?"

Riku whirled, snarling as he drew the keyblade. "Who are you!"

The eye rolling was not helping his temper. "Oh don't throw a tantrum, child. You could hardly hurt me with that, in any case. " He smirked, seeming to come to a decision, and bowed ever so slightly. "Pitch Black, at your service. Though I wonder if your guest might not know me better as Kosmotis Pitchnier?"

The surge of surprise and interest from Ansem nearly broke his control.

I really liked this. It kept me guessing and wondering who that person was, but by the end I still didn't know who he was! I couldn't find anything about him even when I did a Google search. Even though I didn't know who he was, though, I still really enjoyed reading this. You've got to love stories that involve Riku struggling against the darkness in his heart! Good job!

Oh, I see! After the movie came out the internet must have erased everything that ever existed about the book. Of course. That explains everything. So this story is based on Rise of the Guardians but not really, huh? I've never seen the movie or read the book, but you've got me interested! I'll check out the book! You make the world and the villain seem very interesting!

I sat here trying to guess too and when he announced himself I may have squealed a bit and then read the rest really fast so I could go back to the top and read it again? I -have- seen the movie so I have at least an inkling of what's going on and I must say the way you ended it is very cruel to someone who dearly wants more of this story *dignified sniffle*
