I feel greedy, posting two stories for one challenge, but I really wanted to post this, since it was the first thing that came into my head when I saw the challenge.

Challenge: Breaking
Title: “Falling Apart”
Word Count: 162
Notes: Riku’s POV, set after Riku and Sora’s first meeting in Traverse Town. Italics are parts of Sora’s dialogue taken from the game.

I'm not afraid of the darkness. Through the darkest of shadows, I had held onto this image, that I would find you, and Kairi as well. Or maybe you’d be the one to find me. But I wasn’t expecting-

You’re coming with us, right?

That’s when it all fell apart, when the image was broken. Those were your new friends, Sora?

We’d always had a connection, hadn’t we? I’d known that once we found each other, everything would be okay. I believed that.

But what’s this? Keyblade master? Sora, what did you imagine that this would be like? Cause at that moment I felt a wall between us. That connection was breaking and I felt we were being pulled in two different directions.

There was such light coming from you then. But, I had to get away…and you didn’t come after me. It’s not that I found you didn’t need me…it’s just that you…

Oh, well.

You left me there to break.

A/N: So…what did people think of this? I’m not entirely happy with it, as in, I knew what I was trying to say, but I’m not sure it came out right…

Yeah, you're right, this challenge could be taken lots of different ways. This was the first story I tried to write, but it wasn't working so I wrote something light and cute (er...well hopefully cute) instead. But then I couldn't really rest until I'd finished this one.

So sad...I loved it. At that part in the game I hatted Sora so much. >.< "you're coming with us, right?" After he said that I couldn't help but yell 'SORA! You dumb ass!'

Once again, I loved this drabble.

Yeah, that part of the game made me so sad. Still, if he'd been all like, "NO Riku come back!!" it would have just been more encouragement for us Riku/Sora fans, and I don't think we need any more...

Fantastic. I love how you captured the betrayed feeling coming from Riku, many fics that use this part of the game gloss over the fact that Sora, naive and thickheaded as he is, practically abandoned Riku! *seethes* I believe that this was a part of the game where I was yelling at the TV...

Thanks ^_^. I was definitly trying to show a betrayed/crushed/confused Riku, and I'm glad that you all seem to feel the same way as me about that part of the game.

It seems to me that everyone has some sort of view towards the game in which they gloss over certian lines/feelings. For instance, being the yaoi-shipper that I am, I would put faaar more emphasis on the Sora/Riku interaction at the end of the game and gloss over the "take care of her line"

I guess so. As for me, I have two ways of thinking about KH: a more accurate analysis of what actually happens in the game and what that says about the characters; and a fangirl version in which certain things can be ignored or twisted ^_^. The writing I've done for KH so far (which isn't that much...) seems to reflect that first way of thinking.

Still, that doesn't stop my imagination from going further than the game does. I'm definitely a Riku/Sora fan, though I love almost all the pairings, and I'm loving everything that's been written in this community.

So...that was long and unnessasary...

Absolutely loved this drabble.
