NOTES This is for psych_30 written on the theme of 'transference'.


"...Sora."

Riku pretends he doesn't hear Kairi when he moves with her. He pretends that her shoulders are not her own and her lips aren't speaking a name they both know too well. If he shuts his eyes and breathes then it doesn't matter. She breathes into his neck and he knows she's unthinking too. She's unremembering and rememorying better images and better places. They let the castle dissolve behind them and have this moment to themselves.

Later in life they will both deny it.



"...Riku."

Sora runs his fingers through Kairi's hair. It's almost the same length as Riku's, he tells himself. This was a mix-up anyone could make, in the dark and hand to shoulder, knees touching instead of hips. He notices that she doesn't even correct him, eyes shut, breathing into his mouth.



"...Kairi."

She tilts her head and listens to the dark.

I can't exactly put my finger on the reason, but I am incredibly attracted to this drabble. I've read it over several times, actually, and I'm still a bit confused about what exactly is going on in it, but the way you handled the situation, the way you placed your words... It's just very effective, the curt, dark tone you use. Great job.
