"Tell me," he says, and so she does, filling all the nights that never were with the only stories she can – her feelings (and she glows so bright he can almost feel the moon trembling below him, a thousand thousand hearts beneath his hands) her memories (like precious pages in a child's sketchbook, but changed and blurred as a thousand thousand days might do) her body, opening under his touch – and those thousand thousand moments unshatter into just one night, one hollow knight that she can never fill – and still she isn't sure if she has truly saved her life.
