Challenge: [103] Desire
Title: Six Angles
Word Count: 256
Notes: Spoilers for Apprentices, pre-KH, perhaps? Hope I'm in time; first time participating. ^^;
He wanted a somethingness to fill the gaping nothingness where a whole life should have been. With fierce determination he pursued the secrets of the heart to retrieve the scattered memories he fervently hoped they held.
He sought an inspiring adventure, a fitting challenge for his restless mind. To go where none had ventured before and stare the darkness in the face, laughing and unafraid.
He collected discoveries, bits of knowledge carefully, little pieces of the larger puzzles that sooner or later encompassed everything. There was no piece that didn’t fit in somewhere, and knowing their place in the bigger picture, grasping their purpose as no-one else did gave a deep and true satisfaction.
He sought truth, blazed pure and uncompromised. Answers to everything, definite facts hard won through most meticulous and merciless science. Small sacrifices for a higher goal, the betterment of all.
He wished to nurture and protect, to strengthen that which was fragile and weak and defeat that which was stale and strong. Only by understanding darkness could light triumph. For the greater good, and the pettier gratification of playing the saviour. Surely a greater purpose allowed for such small worldly rewards?
To him, knowledge was power, and power was a taste that lay well on his tongue; sweet as victory, alluring as secret triumphs. A game so contrived and intricate the pieces never knew they were part of it.
They were all brilliant minds, the most radiant their world had to offer.
They all desired enlightenment.
But what they found was Darkness.
