Title: Judecca

Notes: I apologize to Dante for the havoc I've wreaked here. There are a few (well...several) things that don't exactly jive with the Inferno canon here, but they fit what I was trying to do. orz
They have no hearts but they have souls and they are judged accordingly. They go down though those nine great rings, silent for the first time since they were screamed into being. He watches their number shrink, one by one, leaving their mark in each circle.
It makes him crack a smile that they have a full spectrum of sins among them, but as they descend, still, the demon does not show him to his place. As they pass through the Malebolge, their number falls from three to two. They carry on.
The demon grows wary as they approach the ice. So, too, does his companion. He is calm. He has felt this place in his not-bones, a deep, familiar chill, since the reaper came for them. His companion is interred in the ice, indignant and flailing.
“Betrayal of the Benefactor,” the demon intones.
He chuckles at his leader’s end, locks eyes with the demon. There is nowhere left for him but this place. This is his place.
“No, Firestarter. We will not make things so easy for you.”
And the demon leads him down

down into the gaping maw.
