This is in actual fact [livejournal.com profile] withoutwings, 'cept I decided to shove everything all fic-related to my writing journal, so it's easier to separate. Yups.

Challenge: [29] Tragedy
Title: Dramatic Irony
Words: 133
Notes: Vexen-centric. I put in a lot of subtle references to a lot of things here, up to you whether you want to pick them up or not.

He thought himself above them, all petty quarrels and little disputes, more preoccupied with themselves than with the Order's missions. Of course, he had warned the Superior about them, but he had only waved a hand and dismissed him.

Vexen didn't allow the incident to disappoint him. It would have been pathetic to place so much faith in such a man, nevermind that it was the Superior who brought him back in the first place. At least now, in the basements of Castle Oblivion he had the peace and the quiet that he had always wanted, enough to focus on his experiments. There was no need to forge relationships beyond the corporate kind.

Let them write their own tragedies. Vexen had more pressing goals to accomplish than trying to make an indelible mark on destiny.

I've never played COM, so it tugged no specific heartstrings, but it was still an interesting read, and definitely well written. "Let them write their own tragedies" was my favorite line.
