challenge: Lost and Found
Title: Something Wanting
Word Count: 191
notes/ spoilers: no spoilers.. um. notes.. this is my first drabble?
Everything seemed to be in its proper place. The air was hot and moist with just an edge of the ocean's salt. The sand was worthy of a baking oven and naked feet still hopped quickly across the beaches.
But there was something left wanting. It was far too quiet to be natural. Selphie couldn't quite place her finger on what was missing.
There was Tidus, off in the distance. The swishing of his long pole carrying to the brunette on the dock.
Then there was Wakka, practicing blitz ball moves with a consistant, boing, boing, boing, against his knee.
Selphie frowned, scrunching her face up tightly. In her mind, she saw phantom images of something not quite remembered.
A spiky haired boy with bright blue eyes. An innocent forgiving smile splitting his face with a loud peal of laughter.
A silver haired idol, seemingly untouchable to nearly all...
"Watch out!"
Her moment of thoughtfulness was broken by a blitz ball to the head. She was sent, pinwheeling, into the water below...
And still, when only two voices resounded in laughter at the slender girl. She knew there was something missing..
that...
