The brunette sighed in defeat as he watched the water wash away their creation. “How was I supposed to know I was too close to the water?”

“Well… you could’ve checked.”

“Well why didn’t you check, then?” Sometimes, Sora had been witty enough to come up with a comeback for one of Riku’s lines.

“Anyways,” Riku shrugged the matter off his shoulders, “let’s go start over someplace else… you know, where the water won’t wash it away.”

The two settled down on another spot and began once again. This time, there were no loose dogs to interfere, no badly thrown Frisbees, and no water to wash it away. Their redheaded friend joined them halfway through completion, having gone away for a bit to look for things to decorate their creation with.

“What’d you bring, Kairi?” Sora asked her. She looked away innocently with a pout on her face.

“I didn’t bring anything,” She said, “I was walking, and Selphie’s dog was there, and it was real cute so I played with him, and I forgot.”

Riku sighed in defeat. “What am I gonna do with you guys?"

“Good going, Kairi. Now there's nothing to make it look cool!” Sora grunted.

“I-I’m sorry. . . I didn’t mean to . . . but he was so cute and I . . .” Her eyes were welling up with tears—a typical sight.

“Sora, apologize!”

“Sorry, Kairi!” The brown-haired boy bowed his head down, “I didn’t mean to make you feel bad about forgetting the decorations.”

She immediately smiled, “That’s okay, Sora!”. The three then turned back and finished their work.

“I still feel kinda bad for forgetting,” Kairi stated, looking around her for any spontaneous things that she could use. “Hey, look! Thalassa shells!”

She bent down, picking up five Thalassa shells one by one. The boys raised their eyebrows at her, unsure of what she was planning. She merely smiled and started assembling an ornament. One by one, she put a Thalassa shell over the “entrance” of their work. As Sora and Riku watched, they came to recognize the shape she was putting the shells in.

Together, the five formed a star over the “entrance”.

“Whoa, look, it’s a star!” Sora pointed out loudly. Riku laughed.

“It’s just one star, but our castle looks great now, doesn’t it?” Kairi giggled and the two boys nodded their heads in reply.

“It kinda reminds me of a Paopu fruit.” Riku tilted his head to the side, examining the shells.

“Of course, silly!” Kairi giggled again.

“Why is it like a Paopu fruit?”

“Because . . .” She pouted, “It’s a thing!”

“A thing? Huh?”

“A thing so all of us can always be together forever!”
