Title: Remembrance
Word Count: 140
Spoilers: For CoM, yes. (No specific plot details are here, but I know people like to be cautious.) It also depends on how much you actually know about Zexion. If you know nothing and don't WANT to know, don't click.

Notes: Wow, Zexion. Normally I don't spare that much thought for him. Then I was seized by the urge to write something .. Zexion-y. And here we are. As an actual note, I never did beat CoM, and it's been quite a while since I played, so if you think my characterization of him is sketchy, well, can't say I blame you.

______________

Sometimes, in brief, painful flashes, he remembers.

He doesn't want to remember, really. Memory is a faulty thing. After everything he's seen go on in this castle, no one knows that better than he.

(Except maybe the witch, but she never counted anyway.)

All memory does is lie and deceive and betray. As he has no heart, he can't feel his way about. He is left with nothing but cold logic, and he likes it that way.

Remembering brings him pain. Emotion. Emotion is worthless to him. So far removed from real is emotion that it may as well be a dream.

And Zexion never dreams.

But some part of him refuses to cast it away. The dark black void in his chest sucks it in, keeps it there under lock and key. But it is kept nonetheless, it is there.

And no matter how hard he tries, Zexion cannot forget.

I was called Ienzo once.
