Or here in my Memories.

Title: Vacation (Part 14, 15 & 16)
Word count: 462 , 340 , 468
Spoilers: Inferred for KH2
Notes: Post KH2, Sora, Kairi, Riku. Idle thoughts have a way of becoming plans for adventure. Three for ya this time- as I won't be able to post again until I get back. Enjoy!

Comforts of home, anticipating trouble, and false advertising...

Sora started awake the next morning with soft fingers touching his mouth and a hand shaking his shoulder.

Kairi smiled and put a finger over her lips. She pointed towards Riku, sound asleep to one side of the pilot's seat, laying on two puffy sleeping bags.

"We're in orbit around the next world," she whispered.

Sora got up, stretched- yawned- and caught sight of the blue jewel of a planet that was Port Royal, floating lazily outside the ship. They were just out of drop range. Kairi took his hand briefly, gesturing towards the cargo hold.

Dale was on the monitor when they climbed down. "Mornin', Sora!"

"Mornin'! How long have we been here?"

Kairi took a 'travel rations' packet from the tiny galley on one wall and looked it over.

"Riku flew you in four hours ago and you've been hovering ever since. It's about 7 a.m. Port Royal time."

"Cool." He dug through his bags for a change of clothing, noting that Kairi was already clean, dressed, and ready to go. How long had she been up before waking him?

:Girls,: his inner voice murmured in feigned disgust. Sora smirked and continued his search, drawing out underwear, socks, the essentials... and hesitating as he looked at the pants and jacket he'd gotten from the Good Fairies. Riku jokingly called it his 'work clothes'. He eyed them, and eventually pulled them out of the bag.

Kairi was chatting with Dale- something about breakfast (which sounded great at that point)- as Sora headed into the bathroom and the rather small shower- the sides of which were, luckily for him, was as pliant as Gummi blocks were able to be.

"Where does the water go?" Kairi was asking Dale. She smirked at the grunts and slight popping noises of Sora's elbows hitting the sides of the shower stall and read the directions on the food package. She plopped down on the floor, set the bag on a suitcase.

"Welp, the drain- and the faucet- are both connected to a drain and a faucet back here in the castle. The water falls here and goes through a portal, and falls into the drain there and goes through a portal- and it's all in the Castle's plumbing system."

"You guys try to make things as convenient as you can, huh?"

"Disney is all about the magic!" Dale nodded cheerfully.

The food packet seemed to have been folded several times. Each fold contained a lump of something. Kairi shrugged, broke the seal on three of the sides. She unfolded it once- and there lay a plate of fried eggs. Her jaw dropped. Kairi unfolded it again- a plate of bacon. Again- waffles- toast- milk- fruit- doughnuts-

"Yeah..." she murmured to Dale, "I'm starting to see that."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sora came out of the bathroom fully dressed and toweling his hair dry.
"Oooh, breakfast!" He plopped down across from Kairi and promptly ignored his wet hair in favor of a slice of bacon and one of the forks she'd found in the last fold. She grinned, realizing he must have been well used to this kind of service, and followed his lead.
"Should we wake Riku up?" Sora asked around a mouthful of eggs.
Kairi licked the butter off her finger, shook her head, and pointed at a computer screen just below the one that revealed Dale working with the Gummi construction console. The monitor was blue with a block of white text in the center.
Guys,
I'm not a morning person- you two should know that by now. I haven't thrown Sora out of his chair if you're reading this, so assume that I don't want to get up for a while. Go do something- sight-see, buy souvenirs, whatever. Just take the Pigeon with you and have fun.
Riku
"I didn't know what the Pigeon was," Kairi admitted.
"Homing Pigeon," Sora answered, reaching into his pocket. "We wouldn't have left without it anyway. This is what we use to find a good place to transport back to the ship, and if Riku's on board, he can use the ship's computer to find us in Port Royal." He gave Kairi the small silver object- shaped like the King's seal with odd little flashing lights on the underside.
"Cute," she said, passing it back to him, "and useful."
"Yep."
They finished breakfast, folded the leftovers back into the package and resealed it- then left it in plain sight.
Riku,
There's still breakfast- just unfold the packet- and hurry up! Sleep too long and we'll already have seen everything- by the time you get down there, we'll have to go on to the next world!
Kairi
Sora smirked at the note, then grimaced when Kairi wasn't looking. She didn't realize how very possible the last bit could turn out to be.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kairi was holding his hand.

Sora wasn't protesting- there were Pirates, live ones, all over Port Royal. If Kairi was holding his hand, he knew she was safe.

:Right, that's why your arm is pressed against hers.:

Shut up, Roxas.

Sora blushed a bit at the laughter in the back of his mind.

"Hey, look at those-" Kairi said, stopping them. They paused, then drew close to the table. The greasy-looking salesperson smiled, hoping for a sale, waited as they looked over the assortment of wooden medallions. Each was a simple round circle about an inch in diameter- carved into each was a rough line that vaguely resembled the Heartless symbol.

"What are they?" Sora finally asked the vendor.

"Talismans, young master," the hawker beamed. "Guaranteed, sure-fire protection against Heartless."

Their eyes snapped up to him, wide and astonished. The teens went absolutely silent as the hawker continued to praise and assert his product and their ability to repel any form of shadow or darkness.

Kairi felt Sora's hand tighten in hers and she looked at him. There was a coldness in his eyes, something hard and fierce. The hawker stopped abruptly, sensing a change- he took a step back. Kairi looked at the emotion in Sora's face, recognized the danger, and reached out to it.

Kairi squeezed his hand, touched his arm with her other hand. "Sora- let's go."

His posture relaxed slowly, and he nodded. Sora reached into his pocket, keeping his eyes on the hawker the entire time.

"Do yourself a favor," he said, "and retire before someone realizes those things don't work." Sora threw a handful of munny on the table- an amount significantly more than the asking price for the entire stack of medallions. The man stared at it for a second or two, then it disappeared, as if by magic.

Then Sora allowed Kairi to lead him away. She looked at him.

"...What?"

Kairi only smiled, and kept looking at him.

Sora blushed. "It probably won't help. I doubt he'll stop-"

"Heartless talismans!" they could hear the voice shouting behind them. "Sure protection from shadows and-

"Thundaga!"

A shaft of lightning split the clear sky, striking the table and all the talismans, turning them to ash- but leaving the hawker unharmed.

All activity in the square halted. The shoppers of Port Royal turned to stare at the two foreigners- one standing with a key-shaped sword held aloft in his hands.

"Anyone else selling fake protection amulets here?" Sora called into the silent street. The patrons very quickly returned to their interrupted activities.

Sora let the keyblade dissipate, ignoring the wide-eyed stares from one or two of the passers-by.

"Wow," Kairi said mildly as they started walking again, "...I guess souvenir shopping is out."

Sora's answering grin was weak- but it was there.
