Momento 02 - Voices
Challenge: none
Title: Momento 02 - Voices
Word count: 200
Notes: OT5-ish with your steady diet of one-shot Riku angst/fluff drabbles.
---
When he dreams he has another face and another name. When he wakes it takes his friends a long moment to convince him that he's Riku again, still Riku. It takes him the rest of the night to convince himself that the second voice in his head is just that: his imagination, and no one else.
His friends have their own little voices in the back of their minds that come out in the dark, sometimes. With Sora asleep, Roxas would teach him the names of attacks he'd learned as a Nobody. With Kairi asleep, Naminé would hum a quiet melody they learned in Twilight Town or, like tonight, tell stories.
"Once upon a time," she whispers, "there was a boy that lived on an island."
"I think I've heard this story," Riku says, trying to smile. She presses her finger to his mouth.
"Yes," Naminé replies, "but do you know how it'll end?"
"Does he live Happily Ever After?" His answer is tentative, embarrassed.
"Not quite," Roxas murmurs to his left. Sora seems to wake, and finishes, "But it was close enough."
"Yes," Kairi agrees.
Instead of one voice he hears when he falls back into restful sleep, it is four.
---
End
Thanks for reading.

With all four, they'll drag him back to sanity in no time - and then promptly drive him mad in other ways, I suppose. :)
