Challenge: Desire
Title: Heart's Desire
Word Count: 171
No real spoilers for anyone who's played throuhg KHII. Slight hints of Axel/Roxas, but it's up to interpretation.
Axel knows that Nobodies are supposed to lack hearts. They are supposed to be unable to feel anything, automatons that are only going though the motions of living. Axel has been told this over and over again ever since the day he stumbled into the World That Never Was and was found by Zexion. You are a Nobody. You feel nothing.
But if this is true, why do they all positively lust after Kingdom Hearts? If they are truly incapable of emotion, shouldn’t that mean that they are also incapable of desire? But they do desire, they covet, they yearn for their lost hearts.
Axel is mostly amused by the fact that they are so desperate to recover their lost selves when the evidence that they are still perfectly capable of emotion is right in front of him. Unlike the rest of the Organization, he is smarter than to obsess over Kingdom Hearts. All he has to do is look at Roxas and know that yes, he has a heart, and here is something worth fighting for.
