[challenge 160] Deocculation
Title: Deocculation
Challenge: [160] Blinded
Word Count: 349
Rating: PG-13? slight violence/gore.
Notes: ...erk. no haley/sora sixth sense jokes plzkthnx.
The worst wound Sora had ever suffered occurred during a Heartless-exterminating visit to Hollow Bastion. The location was a lucky one - off of a side street near the center of the city, close enough to Merlin's apartment that Sora had been healed within ten minutes of the accident.
Sora had been ready for the little beasts a split second before they sprung out of the shadows, slicing through half a dozen within a few seconds. The slaying of Heartless was something so trivial now, so easy. Sora often boasted he could kill the little monsters in his sleep.
His confidence made him vulnerable. Sora had just knocked yet another Heartless out of existence and turned to see if Donald or Goofy had been watching when out of nowhere a shadow sprang at his face. Sharp claws ripped into his plump cheeks, over his high brows, digging directly into his gentle blue eyes. Sora barely had time to utter a scream of pain before he felt blood stream down his face and trickle into his open mouth.
The boy dropped to his knees, ignoring the petty wounds other Heartless inflicted on his back and sides as he curled into a fetal position. Why hadn't he become unconscious yet?! Wasn't his body naturally supposed to relieve him of this pain, of the horror of losing his eyes?!
Sora could have slipped into dark oblivion if it wasn't for the tingle between his fingers.
His Keyblade. He was still holding it.
Without the aid of what he had thought to be his most precious sense, Sora concentrated on the feeling of warm gold in his hands and steady thumping of heart against ribs. He could also feel the coldness on his body, on his back, in his hair, like a kind of gooey slime had been poured atop him.
He heard the shing of metal whooshing through the air, smelt the stench of darkness, tasted his own blood on his tongue, felt the pumping of his heart driving him on, guiding him towards the negatives of the universe.
Sight, he realized, was not necessarily synonymous with light.

This was kind of gross, but in a delightful way - maybe because my brain can see it happening in off the screen canon (lolol Disney isn't that violent) and getting fixed with some potions later on.
The last line is my favorite part - that and the whole sight being thought of as the most precious sense, when it isn't necessarily so. Also the idea that the body is supposed to knock you out when you get seriously wounded... pfff, if only.
Aaanyway - Great job on this!
(... and don't murder me for the "joke." D: A dead person made me do it! but in seriousness you should probably edit your notes if you really don't want them XD - it's like a giant red button that says DON'T PUSH! Hard to resist!)
