Co-op Drabbles- Princesses of Heart edition
Notes:
osmandias and I once again decided to write drabble prompts from one other with our theme being the Princesses of Heart or the female Disney characters seen within the KH series. (In our cases, Mulan is more of a warrior than a princess since you get to control her in KH2, ramblings aside).
Her sampler of drabbles is here.
The rest of the drabbles can be found here.
Yes~ I snagged her intro.
Title: Jealousy
Word Count: 232
Spoilers: None
Notes: Um... oops? The 'She' in this is Snow White. Sorry if that wasn't made clear. :D
She helps Aurora comb out her hair- long, golden blonde, supernaturally lovely and... surprisingly resistant to tangles.
She would have enjoyed pulling- accidentally of course- to hear the older girl catch her breath in pain, to see the down side of all that thick, beautiful hair.
But that never happens.
Instead, Aurora 'Please call me Rose', smiles, thanks her, and replaces the delicate little tiara.
Sometimes she is able to convince the others that the castle isn't safe- and they restrain Alice's wandering. Then she doesn't have to know the girl is out exploring, finding new things, when she is not.
She helps Cinderella clean their rooms, and takes out a chair to reach what the blonde girl could dust by simply stretching to her tiptoes.
She tells Jasmine what a wonderful example she is with her confidence and grace. The dusky princess smiles, and tells her how to think and how to move, and Snow White promises herself that she will surpass the other girl one day.
She wishes she had a dress like Belle's- spun gold and shimmering, draping in extravagant folds all around her legs- cut low to show off the older girl's bosom.
She wishes most of all that she had a smile like Kairi's. Innocent- joyful, and strong.
She will be only too happy to go back home, where she will again be fairest in the land.
Title: Manifestation
Word Count: 142
Spoilers: Slight for KH2
Jasmine strolled along one of the castle balconies, watching the people- small as ants- moving about the city below- but mostly thinking- daydreaming.
I wish I knew what Aladdin was doing right now.
She flinched back as the vision came to her- like the reflection of birds against the surface of the castle fountains.
Fighting- sword drawn against Heartless- then flying on Carpet with the Keyblade bearer at his side, battling in mid-air. A bat-hook catches hold of his arm, and he is flung into the air-
Her shout of denial was lost in the scream of fright caused by a hand- suddenly wrapping around her upper arm. It turned her about and she found herself staring into horribly familiar eyes.
Jafar smiled. "Your wish has been granted, Princess." He drew her closer to him, sneering. "Would you like to hear mine?"
Title: Opinionated Views
Word Count: 240
Spoilers: None
The people in this town were hopeless.
Well- not the bookkeeper. He was a kind old gentleman with a very sweet smile and happy to aid her whenever she stopped in. Pathetically grateful to have someone come in his store at all- she believed.
She'd been so optimistic when they moved here.
Perhaps she would meet someone, man or woman, with the same ideals as hers. Someone who would enjoy sharing her adventures into the world of literature... someone who at least would prove themselves literate.
The adults had disappointed her.
The children might be a possibility- once they'd gotten a few books into their heads... once she taught them to read a few books. She was kind, patient- but then inevitably their parents would wander past, smile indulgently for a minute or so, and shoo the child off to 'do something constructive'. Like cleaning or feeding the animals, or hunting.
She couldn't explain to their parents that the spotless hearth, the fat chickens, and overstocking the larder could wait. That reading was constructive.
She supposed their lack of belief could not surprise her- considering that the parents themselves had likely never read anything, and therefore couldn't fathom the use of science, philosophy, or even the more frivolous fairytales.
She realized it was pointless- useless to try and convince anyone, but she still longed for someone to share her interest... even if she had to beat it into their heads.
