Challenge: [099] Sidequests
Title: Check
Wordcount: 357
Notes: Quick drabble on an in-game sidequest. Yes, I know that's not terribly original-- I wasn't really planning on entering this week, really, I was just playing with second person, and this came out, and I like it. So, might as well post, right? XD;

You run past the glittering crystal rocks and you tell yourself that you won't, you won't double back and check.

But of course you do.

He's waiting there. Calm and cold as ever, and though you can't see his face, you've got the idea he's wearing that nasty smirk again. You summon the Keyblade and your heart is thumping and you think I'm going to wipe that smug grin off his face, for sure this time.

And this time it does take longer. Almost a full half hour, or at least close to, you're sure, elapses before you fall backwards and even though you know that he won't kill you what if he does and the bizarre longsword's point presses gently into your chest.

You shudder, but you're not scared. Too much adrenaline and absolute pride that he beat me but look I cut him and he's hurt this time.

But he doesn't stab you, he just laughs, amused, and goes back to overlooking the city and of course ignoring you. You're angry because I am a good opponent how dare he not respect me but there's no choice now but to retreat to the fissure and lick your wounds.

You catch up to Donald and Goofy and grin sheepishly when Goofy sighs and offers you a potion and you try very hard (really) to look apologetic when Donald stamps and scolds and reminds you that you're gonna get killed if you keep messing with that guy, and then where will the worlds be?!

So you promise that it won't happen again and yeah he's too strong and I won't prove anything by beating him.

And you mean it. You're not going back, really, no matter how amazing it would be to finally become a respected opponent and to win. It's dangerous and useless and it won't mean anything (just everything) to you. But you won't fight him again.

Until then next time you pass the fissure and you just want to see if he's still there.

Maybe I'd better get on and write some more for Seven Sins...
