Challenge: Forbidden Love
Title: Temptation
Word Count: 191
Notes: First entry, and the first thing to tumble out of my head. :D *idly pokes Riku and Kairi*
She smiled.
His heart froze, clenching tight in his chest, lungs heaving. His lips dragged in the sharp morning air and he tried to remember how to breathe, tried to remember what she had just said.
It couldn't be true. Could it?
As the minutes wore on, the smile quivered slightly, the brightness draining out of her face. His green eyes stared at her -- through her -- looking past the red hair and into an empty horizon, looking to the future and right into the past, thinking of the fight and of the Heartless and, above all, of their friend.
He couldn't betray Sora like this. Could he?
The sensation of touch pulled him back into reality; the smooth, cool texture of a paopu fruit brushed against his palm. His fingers trembled over the leaves, and she pushed harder, folding it into his grip. Her lips parted again and she whispered something into his ear – his gaze shifted, following hers, looking to the forbidden fruit.
"It’s been two years."
... That was enough, wasn’t it? Sora would forgive him.
The silver-haired boy lifted the fruit and bit deep, and she smiled.
