lindskaba is lovely and wonderful and an amazing beta. ♥
He lifts his lamp, lifts her lids one two. Her eyes are blue and clear – they shine like falling stars as she stares back at him. Her nose is clean, lips bright and sweet, parting for him like a door. He presses her tongue down, searches her throat.
"Say ahh."
"Ahhhhh."
Her voice is little and soft. She doesn't wiggle – hardly – as her mouth is swabbed, waits wide-eyed as he sets aside the sample. Her gaze breathes a question; he doesn't answer.
He checks her ears one two, lifts his small hammer to strike smaller knees, dodges bare and kicking feet. She watches him unwavering.
He raises his stethoscope.
"Xehanort?"
He stops.
Why am I here? she'll ask. Where am I going? Or – Will this hurt?
He's heard that one before.
"What are you listening for?"
"For your heart, Kairi." His fingers tremble through her hair. "For what your heart will say to me."
"Oh." She shivers beneath the cold metal, waiting as they listen, all stilled breath and beating pulses. Her heart flutters in his palm. It whispers light and summer sand. Laughing boys and three hands intertwined. Never giving up.
He doesn't understand.
"What language does it speak?"
He's silent. He would say heart's desires, worlds beyond. Keyblade masters and memories beyond his reach. Princesses – she'd smile, child as she is. Darkness.
She wouldn't understand.
"A language–" and the words are strange. "A language all your own."

Kairi is a sweetie, as always, and the thought of how dangerous Xehanort is although it's reigned in, is awful and wonderful.
