Challenge: Rain
Title: it always rains.
Word Count: 211
Note: ... NONE. XD I had problems formulating this specific idea I had, but oh well.
In daylight, the Destiny Islands are bright and crystalline, cerulean skies meeting the ocean on a limitless horizon. The sands are golden-warm in the sun. The light makes it beautiful.
.. But the storm broke all this, and turned the sky dark with fear. Clouds broiled, and the colours drained from the world, the sea tossing and turning fitfully. All turned grey and black in the chaos; the sands lost their warmth, soaked through by rain.
the raft breaking, shards of wood splintering on the shores,
waves carrying it
brokenly
out to sea.
She watches the storm through terrified blue eyes. Except there is no raft. The raft broke long ago, and their dreams with it.
a necklace of thalassa shells,
lost
in the water.
She sees their memories in the rain. In each large droplet, she sees their eyes, their faces, and remembers how it felt to have them here. With her.
Glittering islands in a fresh morning rain. Two bodies running exultant through damp grass, enjoying the rare feeling of cold water. His smile, and the reflection of the ocean in his eyes.
... Except there is no boy. There is no smile.
But there is rain, and there is the storm. It always rains now. At least for Kairi.
