There was something terribly wrong. He had noticed it that morning when the sun had risen and everything had been so bright. He left, as he did every day, to explore the area, make sure everything was safe. He inclined his head to his friends as he passed, taking in the scenery of everyone doing their best to keep their home safe. He left the complex’s gates, taking cautious steps as his head twitched from side to side. He heard a rock scuffle to his left and he paused, eyes staring ahead, trying not to move. Slowly, he looked to his left and was dismayed to see what he had hoped wouldn’t show itself. A Keybearer. He stood as tall as his small form would let him, trying to frighten the creature but the Keybearer didn’t even blink. It stepped forward, its movement eerily smooth and its odd hair bouncing slightly. He was disgusted. These things had come from nowhere, suddenly bursting into their darkened territory and wreaking havoc, killing whenever possible and stealing the hearts from his friend’s chests. The shadow lower it’s head in warning as the Keybearer took another step closer. He slowly slid his feet into the ever present darkness around him and quickly disappeared back into the confines of his city jut as the Keybearer struck, obscene feet stomping the ground as it tore towards him. Once safely inside his community, he fell back on his heels. A Large Body waddled over to him, pat his head comfortingly before setting off towards the gate to take his own chance against the beasts of Light
