Challenge: [141] Disturb the Universe
Title: And Joseph Sat Disgruntled In The Corner
Wordcount: 537
Notes: this fic is silly out the wall 8) LAWLZ SORRY...but I don't trust Snow White anyway. She's too good. Um. If you buy ONE book, please let it be this one. I ttly didn't know they had models back then either. (and this is fun too.)
Title is from the weirdest art history documentary that I've ever seen XD

When Snow White announced that she'd started a new, high-paying part-time job, her lover first choked on the wine he was drinking and then asked the very first question -- "What is it?"

Taking some pictures, Snow White said. All very nice ones, she was sure.

"But why? You don't have to work! That's why you're the new queen."

But I'm bored, she said. No more Darkness and no more adventure and no more Glass or Crystal Coffins is all very well and good, but it does leave me quite a lot of spare time.

He guessed she was right, but still..."No more cleaning? No more cooking? You've changed, my dear, from the simple little maid you were."

"Other people and other worlds will do that." She kissed his forehead briefly as she rose. "Darkness and growing up...but don't you worry, my prince. I still say my prayers." she assured him, more tartly than sweetly.

He tried to be supportive but soon there came a time where it seemed that every one of his subjects knew him as "that lovely young model's husband."

"They don't even know my name anymore!" he grumbled to the old magic mirror.

"And just what was it?" the spirit replied.

"It's Alfred!" he yelled, throwing his crown at the god-damn spirit.

...but the mirror was used to such treatment and all it said was, "Do calm yourself."

"I...I just don't know." he mourned, after taking a moment to breath and remember that he loved his wife, stupid, famous, pure-hearted girl that she was. "All the ladies want to work now, and she's leading them. It seems terribly ambitious, doesn't it? It's not normal for women to be seen -- in fact, it's downright revolutionary. Look at this! Right there, on the front page...oh, I've just never heard of a good woman working."

"You know, her step-mother used to do it...the pictures and the books and all. She was nobody until that, but..." the mirror intoned dryly as he stared at the copy of Royal Living the young king was holding up for him to observe. "It's how she met the old king."

"And she was so powerful." the prince sighed. "Why...what even happened to the king? I don't recall. Perhaps he went to a place where the leader is all about the politics and there's no 'modeling' anywhere, where men are the only ones that work and matter? Some normal place?" He finished hopefully, but he knew he was only joking. He knew, deep down, Snow White had somehow become stronger then him, between the Darkness and the photos, and that history would remember only her. That things were changing and the women were working.

The mirror didn't see nor perceive nor care about these thoughts that young prince what-was-it-again was having. It was only debating whether or not it should, indeed, enlighten the young man as to the old king's fate --

his ambitious wife, one of the old world's greatest supermodels, had poisoned him and taken his throne, of course.

And, the mirror thought, it could be soon that fair Snow White would get it in her head to become a supermodelfeminist'virgin'queen, much like that step-mother, and start doing things that weren't so fair. Surely it was only right to provide the prince with some warning.

I... that... amuses me somehow. o_O Maybe it's the fever. <.< I think it's the last bit, with the mirror debating on telling him. I'm not sure if it was meant to be funny but it is.
