Challenge: In Darkness
Title: Condemned
Word Count: 233
Warnings: Erm . . . again, none that I can think of.
‘Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.’
I know you know this. How many times have you said it to me when we sparred? You said that unless I remembered how I’d lost before, I’d never improve.
Well, I’ve improved. I know I’ve improved, thanks to endless fights. My reflexes are sharper, due to the higher stakes for which I fought. My senses heightened, allowing me to strike an enemy appearing directly behind me, clawed hands poised at my throat.
But mostly thanks to you.
I always thought you knew everything. I never saw you hesitate, or wonder if what you were doing was truly the right thing. Even when you opposed me, you still acted as though you were in the right—although I know you knew differently.
It’s time you start heeding your own advice.
Okay, you messed up—you’ve admitted it to yourself, at least, even if you won’t out loud. Even if you’ve convinced yourself it never happened in the first place. I can still see the pain in your eyes. I’m not a complete idiot.
So . . . why won’t you let us help? You’re hurting. The darkness, though not always tangible, though not always recognised, is still there, and you’re still letting yourself be eclipsed by it. Let us help.
Please.

Okay, another drabble that I feel like posting :) Not a part of a contest.

Warnings: Um . . . A slight hint of Rikairu-ness, but that really shouldn't bother anyone . . .
Darkness.
Everything is blanketed by it. I tilt my head back, striving to find a light in the darkness.
There isn’t a speck.
I picture her smiling face, think of the disappointment that her eyes would show if she knew what I was doing now.
‘I’m sorry, Kairi,’ I whisper, sinking to the floor of this corrupted palace. ‘But have I even a choice?’
