Title: Never Meant To

Warnings/Notes: Written during/after the battle with possessed!Riku. Character death.



“Riku! Please! Stop! You have to stop!”
I had been yelling myself hoarse during our whole battle, but as I brought my blade up to parry yet another of his blows I realized he was too lost in the darkness. I had to stop this madness and reach him, the true him, before he killed me. I only had split second of rest before he came at me again. I swung my keyblade to block another attack but I misjudged my timing and my own attack hit him square in the chest, the horrible sound of snapping as bones gave way to metal. He stumbled back, sank to his knees, and fell over backwards onto the cold floor below.
“…Riku!”
I ran over to my best friend of so many years and kneeled next to him.
“Riku?”
He didn’t reply, and only as I took him into my arms did I notice he wasn’t breathing. The worst realization of the fact that I had just murdered my friend was his eyes. The brightest eyes I had ever seen now stared blankly at the ceiling. I couldn’t stop the hot tears as they fell onto his pale cheeks. I sobbed into his broken and bloody chest as I clung to his lifeless shell. I just sat there and held him, horrified and heart broken.
“I never meant to…I never meant to…”
