Challenges are returning March 4th, planned to run for two weeks so we're looking to have two a month.

Spoiler warnings for KH 3 are in effect for at least six months at each time we will re-evaluate the need.

Welcome back.

With only one entry this week, challenge [310] is postponed until Nov 9th at which time we will (hopefully) close it.

Happy writings!

Challenge: [310] Rebirth

Title: Dreams of Reality

Word Count: 194

Spoilers: Possibly mild ones for 3D - I’m not sure; I have only played 3 worlds, but have picked up a few idea from it. The ending is unspoiled at least.

Notes: None.

Awww, you guys. <3 I really, really needed the affirmation today, I cannot tell you how much.

Relatedly, this week's challenge is one that's been on my mind a lot recently.

Life doesn't always play nice. Sometimes it destroys things. Sometimes it destroys us. But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? Depending on your beliefs, maybe even what does kill you makes you stronger. And sometimes, just sometimes, you come out on the other side, and things are different. Because you're different.

It's a theme in Kingdom Hearts, even had a game named after it. Sometimes the term is literal, sometimes figurative. Sometimes the line between the two is impossible to see. Either way you draw it, this week, tell me about [310] Rebirth. Challenge ends November 1st.

Sorry for the lateness, everyone! Both your friendly neighborhood mods are involved in the KH Big Bang and it's eating us alive.

If you have any suggestions for prompts, please leave them at our Prompt Post!

Remember:

You're allowed to vote for yourself, but unless you think your drabble was exceptionally good, please refrain.

Pick your top three, and if you're not the one who posted the challenge, leave the challenger's vote box empty. We've already indicated the challenger's name, so if that's not your name there, don't put your vote in the challenger's box. Everyone's vote counts, but the one that gets the vote of the challenger gets an extra five points.

(First Choice: 3 points, Second Choice: 2 points, Third Choice: 1 point, so please vote the drabbles in the order that you like the most)

Also, please note that the challenger votes only once, in the challenger's voting box.

When voting, please put in only the number. It makes it easier for the mod to calculate results rather than constantly referring to the list of challengers. Also, I'm aware that I may make mistakes. Please inform me if I missed a challenger out.

The winner will be announced in this post so please come back to it.

Haven't heard from the mods about closing the challenge (anybody know the status of this?), and I got inspired again to write this little piece of fluff. :D

That said, mods, if you guys rule that this is late (which it obviously really really is) and can't be in the challenge, I'm fine with that. I just figured I'd post it anyway because this community gives really useful feedback. Thanks to all of you for that - I can tell I'm becoming a better writer because of you, and other people viewing my writing have commented on it as well. Y'all rock. :D

Title: Somewhere Out There
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: None to speak of.
Notes: My single favorite KH moment to date is still the scene near the very beginning of KH1 where the trio are theorizing about travel to other worlds.

Sometimes, there are really good days. )

Challenge: [309] Worlds

Title: Disbelief

Word Count: 74

Spoilers: None

Notes: This is the complete opposite of what I tend to do for these drabbles, which is exposition with no dialogue; thus it is very short. Conversation between Sora and his mother.

So, let me get this right... )

[identity profile] spoke.livejournal.com
Title: Closer to Complete
Challenge: 309 Worlds
Word Count: 237
Spoilers: None really, unless someone hasn't played KH2.
Notes: If every world has a heart...

Challenge: [309] Worlds
Title: For No Man Is An Island
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: KH3D spoilers ahoy!
Notes: Kind of a metaphorical take on the prompt. This… went in a direction I wasn’t entirely expecting. Lots of thoughts and feels on the nature of worlds in Kingdom Hearts, and how people and worlds are similar. Metaphysics, love the metaphysics.

A Keyblade Master is a world unto himself. )

Prompt 309

Well this is a pleasant first! Thank you very much to everyone who voted for me, I'm glad you enjoyed my drabble and I hope my prompt inspires you.

There are a lot of important aspects to the Kingdom Hearts universe, both as a game and as a place for the characters to live through. For us, there are the dramatic battles, the intricate story, and characters which play our heartstrings like master musicians. For the characters- friendships and promises you never forget, realizing how big everything truly is, and always helping who you can. And for both... Well, we'd never be anywhere without antagonists to keep us going, would we?

But there's one aspect in particular that makes the journey in Kingdom Hearts particularly unique. It draws in player and character alike to all the possibilities there are.

Take us on a journey with Challenge 309 Worlds, but just remember it'll end on October 12th.

Title: How Can I...

Word Count: 299

Spoilers: Minor ones from Dream Drop Distance.

Notes: Some of this is head-canon, so I might of messed up some stuff from DDD.

Challenge: [308] Forgiveness
Title: All’s Well That Ends Well
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: KH1, just to be safe. Takes place during the end credits of KH1.
Notes: This was my favorite part of the ending to the first game, honestly.
Also, I’m back! 2013 can go hang, as a year. It’s been beating up on me pretty much consistently since January, but hopefully that’s done with and I can start posting regularly again. Kingdom Hearts has been in my head a lot recently, so hopefully that will help with writing productivity!

Title: Reflections

Once again, I was not expecting to win! But then I wonder, does anyone ever? Thanks everyone. :)

This week I want to hear about one of the main themes of the series, that we haven't revisited in a long time - forgiving. Tell me about turning back from the wrong path, the costs and the dangers and what you gain. Tell me about forgiving a friend and helping them find the way, or if you can - some things are too much to forgive.

Ah, but you have to want it - others might believe you're in need, but do you see it that way? Or will you follow through on your original choice, and leave them behind?

Challenge 308 is Forgiveness, and sorry or not, it ends on October 2nd.

Challenge [307]: Crossover
Title: Let’s Duel
Word Count: 653
Notes: It’s probably really obvious from the title what I’m crossing this over with! It recently came to rival Kingdom Hearts as the fandom that I love to pieces and can’t get enough of, so I really hope this came out well.

Let’s Duel

Although Sora has never entered a tournament that didn't involve plowing through heartless with his Keyblade, he's willing to try card games on for size.
