Challenge: [138] Underappreciated Characters
Title: Unexpected Help
Word count: 368
Notes: Inspired by ‘Cinderella III: A Twist In Time.’ Yes, I was bored enough to give that movie a try, to my astonishment I had a good laugh with it. This envisions a possibility of this taking place sometime in KH2, whilst taking events of KH1 into account.
Spoilers: for KH1 and partially for KH2.

If he’d ever experienced a more hectic day in his life, the Prince couldn’t quite recall it, and that was counting the whole debacle with the sudden ball his father had thrown on a whim and her abrupt disappearance that night.
“So you’re saying,” the Prince summarized while he urged on his steed, glancing sideways at the young man dressed in outlandish blue garb, who seemed to glide on the very air to keep up with the gallop of the horse, “that this Cinderelli-”
“Cinderella.” Sora corrected the semi-misinformed man automatically.
“That she is the maiden I danced with at the ball, just like the talking mice said?”
Now it was the boy’s turn to be confused. “Talking mice?” Before the prince had to explain himself, Sora remembered. “Oh right, Jaq and Gus.” He smiled, happily confirming the prince’s sanity. “She mentioned them briefly when we talked as she was freed.”
The Prince nodded, trying to complete the pieces of the puzzle. “You said she was kidnapped by some evil being called Malificent because they needed… her heart? That was supposedly right after our wedding – which hasn’t happened yet, but somehow has too. Then the Fairy Godmother saw to her return and she and I lived happily ever after. And now Lady Tremaine has stolen the Godmother’s wand and cast a spell on this kingdom to undo it all?”
Sora shrugged. “Well, the last part I know nothing of. I’m just here because I think someone from Organization XIII has been helping Cinderella’s stepmother. Me, Donald and Goofy had split up, so for all we know one of them has already found your princess.”
Their chitchat was interrupted as several Heartless extracted themselves from the darkness to block their path, drawn to the Key. The prince, whilst calming his startled stallion, was still in the process of drawing his sword and could only blink incredulously as the boy finished off the last of the dark creatures without so must as blinking.
“Okay...”
First bluebirds, then talking mice, now warrior dogs, magician ducks and a child warrior, in whose wake followed shadows from the dark. This was most definitely turning out to be the most eventful day in memory.
