Challenge: Breaking
Title:Breakout.
Word Count: 470
Warning: Featuring (not pairing) Selphie, Sora and Riku. Might prove to be an annoying drabble. Read at your own risk.
"I feel cold."
Sora looked at Selphie with disbelief portrayed on his face. He then pointed into the distance at Tidus, who was taking off his shirt because of the heat, and turned back to stare incredulously at Selphie as he asked, "It's the peak of the summer heat wave. That is what you should be doing!"
"You want her to strip?"
"Yes! No, I meant not that way… Shut up Riku, you know that's not what I meant."
Riku shrugged his shoulders and leaned back to watch Sora continue his interrogation with Selphie. "So?"
"So what?"
"Are you sick or something? If you are not feeling well, you shouldn't have come to the beach!"
"I'm feeling fine."
Riku's eyes twinkled with amusement as he watched Sora turn pink with exasperation.
Sora took a deep breath before speaking again. "Selphie, nobody comes to the beach with a winter scarf wrapped around her face."
"Why would anybody on Destiny Islands own a winter scarf in the first place?"
There was a moment of silence and Riku's comment was promptly ignored.
"There is nothing for you to worry about Sora, I am feeling perfectly healthy. And wearing a scarf around the face is the latest fashion craze." The layer of wool covering most of her face muffled the guilt in Selphie's voice.
"Since when did you ever become a fashion guru?" Sora scoffed at the idea of tomboy Selphie actually keeping up with the latest style trends.
"Actually, the latest craze is wearing scarves around the waist like a sarong, only that it becomes a mini wraparound skirt…" Riku would have continued to share his knowledge if not for a malicious stare from Sora.
If curiosity killed the cat, then Sora must have some psychotic feline tendencies as he was almost dying with the need to know why Selphie was hiding behind a checked wool scarf. Selphie decided that she had enough of Sora's pesky questioning and she stood up to walk away. Desperate times called for desperate measures and Sora was desperate enough to do anything to find out the answer. Thus, he had no qualms about inflicting violence. He reached out to grab one end of the scarf and tugged.
However, he underestimated Selphie's strength and when she retaliated, they both ended up in a tangle, covered in sand.
Sadness filled Sora's eyes when he found himself being pinned to the ground at the end of the struggle. Selphie sighed as she found out that she could not bear to see Sora looking at her with those puppy-dog eyes of his. She knew she always had a weakness for animals. She dragged Sora to an isolated part of the beach and took off her scarf.
Selphie pointed to the bright pink pimple on the tip of her nose and said, "Now you understand?"
