Challenge: [86] In Someone Else's Arms
Title: Too Late for Him
Word Count: 377
Notes: Probably my favorite challenge entry ever. Guess the girl who Sora's talking about when thinking about his story, and who she's with at the end, then you get a cookie. :D
Sora walked slowly behind the pair whose laced fingers and giddy laughs made him feel limp.
"This paper has a list of English words on it. You must write a story using all the words on the list, and use them in the proper tense and include possessives. The three bonus words at the bottom are optional, but I will add one point to the assignment grade for each included word."
Sora glanced down at the paper, which he had neglected to put in his suitcase.
I'll think up what I'm gonna write for my assignment... that should take my mind off of it.... Sora thought with little hope.
Crazy
They were crazy for each other. Sora was completely happy with their relationship. She seemed to be even happier. Maybe that was when the trouble started.
Foolish
He was foolish for ever thinking that he couldn't keep up with having her to himself. It was almost like he was giving her up for the most idiotic possible reason: to have more time to himself.
Alone
Sora started leaving her to pick at her candlelight dinners at the most expensive restaurants alone. He started to avoid her. Little did he know that with the choices he made to abandon her, he was committing suicide.
Explain
When she finally confronted him, she demanded that he explain his absences. That's when Sora revealed the knife he kept hidden in his throat and stabbed her in the heart. It shattered.
Today
Today he looks at her and tries to swallow the lump in his throat. Why, why, why was he like that to her if he truly loved her? Not even he knew.
BONUS!!
Arms, Else's (USE IN PROPER CONTEXT!!), Someone
Now he's looking at her. He sees her smiling again, laughing. He know that could have been him that she's holding hands with. But now it's too late.
Sora looked up from the paper at her strawberry colored hair blowing lightly in the wind. He hadn't noticed exactly when he had gotten outside. He supposed the routine of getting out of the building was fastened into his head. But he didn't care. Sora's eyes clouded as the boy put his jacket around her shoulders and squeezed her. She giggled and returned the embrace and stroked his shining silver hair.
She's in someone else's arms.
