Title: What if...
Word Count: 516
Character: Riku, King Mickey, Leon, Seifer
Notes: Set after Kingom Hearts II. The King asks Riku for a little help with something and it becomes obvious early on that things aren't going to go smoothly...
What if…
Riku was NOT enjoying this trip. He knew there'd be trouble when the King asked him to help with a small situation in Twilight Town. It wasn't the situation itself that bothered him. He could handle a few Heartless, though it was weird that there were Heartless there. The Nobodies usually kept them out. The problem was the place itself and what he knew of it. Now that he'd seen how Sora was taking the information about Roxas, he felt bad. He did wish there'd been another way, but it had gotten to a point where Sora couldn't wake up unless Roxas returned to him. But the past wasn't easily reconciled and even if one possessed the means to change it, it was ill advised.
Riku hated long trips, he realized. It led him to thinking too much. He hadn't realized just how far some worlds were from his own. Then again, he'd gotten used to using the dark portals, which were another thing altogether. Either way, the view from the Gummi Ship window was boring. It was quite the relief when they arrived… though, it didn't help that the trip was made somewhat longer by stopping in Radiant Garden to pick someone up. What in all the worlds did they need Leon for? Sure, it was interesting to meet him and meeting him at the Coliseum might be even more fun. But why did they need such tough help?
It became apparent as they looked around town. Most of the Heartless hanging
around were the stronger types.
'Heartless swarm like this if they're close to finding the world's Heart,' Riku thought, 'This world needs to be sealed. Shouldn't Sora be here?'
The searching and fighting led them to the Sandlot, where they found Seifer and
Hayner and their respective groups surrounded by a mixed group of Shadow and Rabid Dog Heartless. It wasn't much of a fight.
"Ok, first it's the freaks in the white jumpsuits, now it's these… things," Seifer grumbled, "What the hell's going on here?"
"A lot of things that shouldn't be," the King replied.
"Never mind that," Leon said, "You kids ought to get to some place safe. We can
explain later."
"Who died and made you boss?" Seifer snapped.
Cue the staredown. Seifer was picking an argument with a guy who could wipe
the floor with him easily. Not that it was the first time and his counterpart in the fake town had done the same. But this guy had just helped save his life, and his heart, and he was copping an attitude. Leon was quiet, for his part, standing there with his Gunblade resting easily on his shoulder.
Briefly, Riku found himself wishing he could still use the portals.
Seifer went on, still glaring at Leon "You know something? There's something
about you that really ticks me off, but I just can't place it."
Leon, chuckled very softly and said, "Maybe we knew each other in another life."
Riku really wished he could still use the portals. This trip could only going from bad to worse.
