Title: Her Own Journey
Word Count: 280
Spoilers: Rather minor spoiler for KHI. (Concerning Kairi.)
She pushed the raft a little further, almost ready to set loose into the sea. Stopping, the girl lifted a hand to wipe the sweat off of her brow. It’s been a long time since she has done anything remotely secret. With two prodding best friends, there wasn’t much to keep secret.
It wasn’t safe. It wasn’t safe at all. In fact, if someone had told her that in a few months she’d be setting out to the world unknown with nothing but dried fruit, water, and the clothes on her back, Kairi would have personally seen them to an asylum. But, her she was, ready to leave the little island she had called home for so long.
Then again, it wasn’t her first home, was it? That whole problem had prompted her to start this trip. Curiosity never led to good things.
While this was probably the most stupid thing she would ever do, she wanted some answers for herself. Sora and Riku had gotten their own journey (one that they could remember everything about), so why couldn’t she?
Giving a content sigh, Kairi turned her head back to the trees of her island. She had left a note saying what she was doing, so there wasn’t much worry. Sora should have been able to understand and if he didn’t, Riku most definitely would. She turned back, grabbed her backpack and stepped onto the raft, gently pushing it away with one foot.
It was time she got her own adventure, and she would damn well get it. Setting off into the rising sun, Kairi set out to face new worlds, and all of the danger that would accompany them.
