Challenge: [100] One-Hundred
Title: Wandering
Words: 503
Rating: G
Notes: Post-KH1, Pre KH:CoM

On the first day of Sora’s journey he’s feeling lost in a maze of darkened alleyways. There is a weapon at his side that allows the lost teen to defend himself while he makes an attempt at exploring Traverse Town. There are no lights where he’s wandering, nor familiar faces and while this makes him feel like he’s alone in a new world, Sora hopes that his friends are okay too. The streets are long and daunting, unfamiliar, cold as he rubbed his hands on his arms trying to keep warm.

When the Heartless first find him, a fear grips him like a vice. The boy runs even though the keyblade is in his hand. He wanted to know more than anything why this weapon had chosen him before running inside of a shop for safety.

On the fiftieth day of Sora’s journey, he’s staring back at his best friend Riku on the deck of a Pirate Ship. Their friend Kairi is in his arms, listless and unmoving. The two have had the same goal from the beginning, to save their friend. As Sora stands looking back at the older teen there is no fear of what his friend has been up to since they’d last seen each other but a deep hurt lingered instead. His best friend hasn’t betrayed him but Sora feels that he is going about it wrong. Riku didn’t need darkness to find Kairi, her light would’ve brought them all together again anyway. No matter how many times Sora opened his mouth to ask the one question on his mind, the words wouldn’t come out.

Why are you doing this Riku? You don’t need the darkness, was what Sora wanted to say but there was something stopping him. He had never halted in asking questions of his friend before so why did he halt now? However, when the words finally do decide to come out, Riku vanishes, taking Kairi with him to a new place. Sora wants to hang his head in shame, feeling sorry for his friends more than worrying about his personal safety.

On the hundredth day, Sora’s journey has ended for now. He’s sleeping in a grassy field around a cheery blaze with his new, yet not new, friends. His dreams are of happier times on the island where racing and building rafts were more important than finding a safe place to rest. The brunet missed those days dearly in his waking hours but knew that one day he’d return to Destiny Islands. Everything would be the same as it was. It was the only that Sora had to hang onto.

Kairi had likely returned to Destiny Island and Riku was lost in the realm of darkness. Sora on the other hand, was in the area between light and darkness. His legs curl into his chest as his hopes floated up to the sky.

He would return, Sora had to. For now though, he was forced to wander the worlds searching for those he cares about.
