kh_drabbleSort of a Valentines day drabble, but at the same time it ended up being something for the challenge.
It does, however, relate to one I wrote awhile back : Flour Baby
Challenge; Luck
Title; On Ninja Skills and Luck, or the Lack There-of
Word Count; 327 >_>
“Whatcha making?” Yuffie peered inside the kitchen, the smells of something sweet and warm tickling her nose.
“Just some chocolate.” Aerith motioned to a small plate on the counter. “You can have one.”
Yuffie practically bounced across the room, snatching up a small piece of broken chocolate. With a grin – this was good – she reached for another, but Aerith gently smacked her hand away with a laugh. “I said one!”
“Awe!”
“The rest are for after dinner.”
Yuffie pouted and sulked out of the kitchen. “We’ll see about that…”
“And she won’t let me have anymore and they are so good it’s like torture so I have to have more so I –”
Yuffie snapped her mouth shut as Leon raised both hands to his temples, a signal she was getting on his nerves.
“… so I was wondering if maybe you could talk her into letting us eat some now?”
“She’ll give it to us when she’s done.”
Pause.
“You’re no fun, Squall.”
“That’s Leon.”
The kitchen was empty.
The chocolate was in sight.
Yuffie gave a small cackle of glee as she used her great ninja skills to slink by the wall, eyes and ears alert should Leon or Aerith enter and catch her in the act.
So close! The prize was almost hers! How lucky!
What she hadn’t planned for was the trap the girl in pink had left for her.
Tripping over the nearly invisible trip wire, she let out a loud yelp of surprise as the trap was sprung.
Aerith surveyed the kitchen with an obviously amused expression, hand clasped before her. “I knew you would try something the moment I left.”
Yuffie glared, but the effect was lost amidst the flour that covered her from head to toe.
The snap of a camera alerted them both to Leon’s presence, and his mouth twitched briefly into an approving smirk.
Sometimes, Yuffie wondered with a sigh, ninja skills weren’t so lucky after all.
