Comments: Wrote it as a post in a rant on Kingdom Hearts Fanfic Rants. Thought is was good enough to post here.
“Marluxia, I can somewhat understand your aversion towards this assignment," began Xemnas as he eyed the man whose hair looked like a large bush painted pink, "but the fact that even Demyx is more willing to go to this desert world than you seems rather strange, even for me."
"What can I say, I despise worlds where there is barely any water," said the Assassin as he folded his arms in defiance. "There is no possible way that you can convince me to go to that desert city with - what was it that made it so special?"
Xemnas sighed. "Three gold balls on a large tower, Marluxia."
"Right, with three golden balls that supposedly protect it from any invading force. I've been to Agrabah, and I have no desire to experience the desert again."
Xemnas wasn't too surprised at his subordinate's behavior. And while the desire to turn Marluxia into a Dusk was becoming an interesting option, the leader of the Organization knew that he needed all the Human Nobodies that he could get.
Fortunately, even as a Nobody Marluxia had a weakness that could make him do anything someone wanted. "Well," began Xemnas as he reached for something inside one of his desk drawers, "maybe you'd be more interested if I gave you this." The Superior revealed a large golden ball, the front bearing the image of a man in a white wig and red suit.
At the sight of it Marluxia gulped. "A Mozart Kugel..." whispered the Assassin, his mouth watering at the thought of the treat. Catching the ball as Xemnas threw it to him, Marluxia had the golden foil off and the chocolate caramel ball in his mouth in seconds.
Xemnas was always amazed at how, despite lacking a heart, the eleventh inductee of the Organization would almost tear up if he had one of those strange treats from his home world. Which was why he always made sure to have a healthy supply for situations like this.
"Now then, perhaps I worded this wrongly," said the Superior as he leaned forward in his chair. "Obviously, you need an incentive for this assignment. How about ten of those...kugeln, as you call them, if you complete the assignment?"
Even in his bliss Marluxia wasn't a fool. Looking at his superior he first swallowed what remainder of the chocolate before replying. "Make it twenty."
"Done," said Xemnas, smirking as he watched Marluxia disappear in a portal. Amazing, thought the caramel-skinned man as he inspected one of the small balls. To think something so little could have such sway over people. Boggles the mind really.
