Challenge: [126] Wings
Title: The Sound of her Wings
Word Count: 352
Spoilers: For the end of KH1
Rating/Warnings: PG/none
Notes: Sora wasn’t alone in the darkness after Hollow Bastion. Neither was Riku. This is actually ‘take three’ because
dusknobody is an inspiring muse-type lady. Title and cut-quote taken from the same place as the guest character. You know who she is. *wink*
Sora fell into darkness- couldn't see... but he heard a voice.
"They're just different- really. Birth from Death- it's not unusual, but still..."
A hand, soft and warm, took his, and Sora opened his eyes. The lady- not mom's age, but older than Kairi- stood near him. She wore a slightly mussed black dress and a big, shiny necklace. Her hair was dark and wild- even worse than his. She smiled.
"Hey, cutie."
That was a smile you just had to smile back at. "Hi. Um... do I know you?"
"Sure, and I know you, Sora. Been seeing a lot of you lately when I come to pick up the little ones."
They were standing in Darkness, but he didn't feel afraid, and he didn't feel lost. She was with him.
"I didn't see you," he said, confused.
"I know," she answered, still smiling. "You wouldn't have."
Well, that made sense. At least... he thought it did. He felt a little restless-
"Aren't we supposed to be going someplace?"
"Well," she pursed her lips a bit, but it was still a smile, "normally, yes, but your friends are very determined people. We'll just wait a little."
That was fine too. So they waited. Sora felt like he was moving... even though he didn't think they were going anywhere, but he wasn't alarmed by any of it. He held the lady's hand and... everything was going to be okay. No matter what happened.
"Oop- here she comes."
"Huh?"
"Sora!"
"That's Kairi," he exclaimed.
"Yep," the lady nodded once. "You better head back to her." She stood behind him- wrapped her arms affectionately around his stomach- then he felt himself lifting off. There was a loud whoosh, whoosh, whoosh... air rushed around his face and he realized the sound was wings- they were flying-
Kairi's arms were around him- and Sora held her back.
"...You saved me."
He blinked, flinched when he realized there was a lady standing just in front of him in the black.
"...Do I know you?"
She smiled, and Riku had to smile back. "Everybody's asking me that question today."
