Title: Delusion
Word Count: 174
Notes: I think this may be the first thing I've ever written in present tense. Also keep in mind that I adore Riku, despite the way this is written. I usually don't portray him like this...
He struts through the Grand Hall, heavy footsteps echoing the magnificence of his escapades, the greatness of his accomplishments. The Keyblade is with its rightful owner, in stronger, more capable hands.
Riku smirks, knowing his trivial enemy will storm the bastion with nothing more than a wooden sword and the ridiculous hope that he will emerge victorious. He scoffs, basking in the knowledge that one swipe of the Keyblade will reduce the childish trinket to mere splinters.
His fingers wrap around the hilt, its sheer power consuming his thoughts, enveloping him in its might. It is no longer a separate unit, but a part of him, and he knows that with its guidance he can rule the world.
But for now he contents himself to pacing through the hall, his footsteps echoing the great deeds he foresees in his future. He knows no one will remember Sora. The boy’s defeat will deem him unworthy and he will return home to his mundane, ordinary life.
After all, Riku was the one intended for greatness.

Date: 2009-05-23 05:26 am (UTC)I always felt bad for Riku after finally proving himself worthy to wield the Keyblade, then having it taken away so soon after. Granted, he was being a bit of a jerk at the time, but we love him anyway :)
Very nice work!
