“How was the trip?” Everything in the way her eyes light up is pure and content, the dull edge of worry and loneliness having faded along with the years of growing up.
But she still hopes, somewhere in the depths of her heart that even he can’t touch, that he will come to her.
Leon takes his time with the answer like he always does, recalling Olympus and its every detail, from the light of the moon to the man he’d seen but never had the courage to speak to.
The one she is waiting for.
And Aerith is still there in the doorway, waiting patiently with her hands folded before her, the same devoted expression in her eyes that she always kept for him bringing him away from the long nights away from Traverse Town.
He doesn’t want to lose that light to anybody else.
“… Fine.”
