Challenge: 214 Cakewalk
Title: I Was Only Curious, I Swear!
Word Count: 397
Notes: Had a hard time deciding whether or not Cloud's sword would be the Buster Sword or First Tsurugi...I imagined the latter, of course.
"Hmm," Sora leaned over Cloud's sword, eyes taking in the worn and frayed cloth wrapped around the hilt and the bandages around the blade. It looks heavy...how does he swing it around so easily?
The curious boy took a look around the room, eyes giving everything a quick once over before falling back to the blade. Cloud was gone and so was everyone else, so it wouldn't hurt to just try would it? "No way," he whispered reaching for the hilt. His hand held it as if it were his own Keyblade so- Could he wield it too?!
He bent at the knees and picked the sword up. For a minute, he had it about an inch off the ground. He struggled to keep a firm grip on it, wheezing and gasping from the immense weight of it.
The front door Merlin's house shut with a loud slam! and, well darn. It was just his hand that slipped, right? Right-o. Sora hurried to fix the position of the sword so that it was once again leaning against the wall. Okay, that's done now-
Heavy steps echoed down the floorboards and the brunette swiftly summoned his Keyblade before scrambling over to the workbench to grab a rag to polish with.
"Hn," Leon made the sound he usually did when he came across the fifteen year old.
Glancing at the door, Sora smiled and acted as normal as he possibly could. He couldn't be found out, he just couldn't. The next best thing was to act as if he'd been shining the Kingdom Key all along. He tried to do so whilst ignoring the flush that colored his neck and ears.
"Get outside, you've got training," he ordered. Sora nodded, threw down the rag and took up the Keyblade, sprinting down the hall and outside to the training grounds.
Once he was sure that Sora was gone, Leon looked over to Cloud's sword. With much less hesitance and worry as Sora had, he grabbed the hilt and pulled it towards himself. Just as he prepared to heft it's weight over his shoulder as he'd seen Cloud do countless times before, he heard someone coming down the hall. Damn.
Needless to say, he replaced the sword as quickly as possible and left the room like nothing was wrong. On his way down the hall, Aerith smiled politely at him and went into the room he'd just been in.
