Challenge 216: Once Upon A Time
Feb. 8th, 2010 05:43 pmChallenge: [216] Once Upon A Time
Title: Happily Ever After
Word Count: 349
Warnings: Heavily implied spoilers for Days.
Summary: Roxas, Xion, Axel and an ending that will never be theirs.
Once upon a time there was a young boy with hair as bright as the sun who wanted to know all about life. He became an apprentice and, over time, a warrior renowned for his strange, special power. He travelled far and wide to fantastic lands, met people from all corners of existence, did battle with dark creatures and all the while he strived to discover the answers he wanted.
Eventually his path came to an end and when he found his answer sleeping, all he could think was that it was a pity that it was this way.
-
Once upon a time there was a maiden with a smile as fragile as autumn leaves who longed to discover where she came from. With a blade in her hand that didn’t quitefit properly, she ran through twisted forests, fleeing from all who approached her, she sought out a witch in a room as white as ivory and begged for the answers.
When she heard them, she didn’t know what to think. In fact, it was only later, as the cold crept through her body and she smiled up at the sky one last time, that she told herself that perhaps it was better this way.
-
Once upon a time there was a man with eyes as green as envy itself who was desperate to find his friend. He lived in shadows, dodging enemies from all sides, his gaze at all times fixed firmly forward. He leapt into battle with his weapons gleaming as brightly as shining armour even as he spewed forth dragon’s fire and destroyed all who got in his way; he leapt into battle without a second thought, even when he saw that all was lost.
And as he faded, he looked up into blue eyes that just weren’t right and realised that what else could it have ever been, except this way?
-
One day, a long time from now, three people will sit side by side on the shore and watch the sun rise over a new happily ever after.
It will never be these three.
