kh_drabbleTitle: Dream a dream
Word count: 264
Notes: I'm struggling a bit with my challenge entry. So I decided to go with something else I was wondering about: what if these two met in the KH-verse?
Summary: One must be the dreamer and the other must be the dream- but maybe it's both. Or neither.
Tidus blinked up from where he sat in the sand, unable to believe his eyes. He rubbed them and- no, still there.
“What are you?” He’d never exactly been the most tactful of people but this shock had blown any perception of manners straight out of the water. Luckily the girl didn’t seem to mind- in fact, she giggled, which might have reassured him somewhat had he not been too caught up in the fact that she was no more than two feet tall. And, you know, floating in front of him.
“I’m a treasure hunter.” she replied as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Tidus held his head in his hands, muttering to himself, “I’m cracking up. I must be dreaming.”
“Er, excuse me,” her gentle voice interrupted his inner dilemma. “But how do we know that I’m not the one who’s dreaming?”
Startled, Tidus looked up again, having not realised that she must have been able to hear him. She stood- hovered- there, hands clasped in front of her as she smiled at him in a friendly manner that made her eyes- one blue and one green, Tidus noticed, though it was far from her most unusual trait- crease slightly at the corners. Her words sunk in slowly but as they did, Tidus felt a wide grin spreading across his mouth and all of a sudden he was laughing.
“Yeah,” he said, trying to catch his breath. “Yeah, I guess you might be right.”
Her laughter blended with his and soon the whole beach was alight with it.
