Notes: 358 spoilers in the second little excerpt, BBS spoilers in the last one

 

Sora’s hand closed on emptiness as his friend was enveloped in the darkness. He lost his footing and fell face first, crying out softly as he hit the ground. By the time he righted himself enough to look up, Riku was gone.

Roxas held empty air as he cried. He knelt on the ground, knees bruised and face cut, lip swollen and he was already forgetting why he was holding nothing and why it hurt so much.

Axel stood his ground as the portal closed and his words were stifled by the suffocating quiet. He wanted so much to go after him because a part of him knew it would be the last time he saw him.

Hayner rubbed his face furiously in embarrassment as everyone looked at him with bewilderment where had that come from? The brunette patted his shoulder and grinned sheepishly. As the tram door closed behind him, Hayner’s eyes began to water again and as he turned away he saw his friends were also failing at holding back the tears.

Sora knelt next to the body that was fading away, sadness overwhelming and confusing him. Sure Axel was nice but where was this pain comin from? As Axel faded away completely, Sora stood feeling hollow.

The three of them closed their eyes as a terrible chain of events ripped them apart. One went into sleep, curling in on himself as his friends struggled. One fell into darkness, landing in an empty place all by herself. The last one was consumed in every way. He lost his body, his heart and his friends and he couldn’t help but think that he never said goodbye.

This one is even more sad than mine! I think it's because Kingdom Hearts is just so full of tragedy--which is fine by me, because tragic things are my favorite!

I like this drabble because it showcases a lot of the 'behind-the-scenes' characters, the ones that we never meet via Sora, but are completely vital to the story, and he doesn't even know it! Kingdom Hearts is just like that--part of it is a story of good versus evil, but the other part is just the story of a whole bunch of friends, some who get happy endings, but most who don't.

Love for the last line, especially!
