Challenge: [264] Playing Detective
Title: Nothing Left to Lose
Word Count: 516
Notes: I've been racking through my brain for an idea for this challenge for awhile! :/ I sort of forced this one out, because I saw that there were no other entries. I tried. and I hope it makes sense? D: Minor BbS spoilers.
Xemnas has forgotten to read between the lines. Those were blurred out once upon a radiant time, and lost in a land of departure.
His mind is a busy place, always wide booming with thoughts whilst he was quiet as ever. He eyes his members, noticing that they are all simple individual nothings. Nothing spectacular about any of them.
Why was it that he was it that he was full of knowledge, when they all knew so little?
And that's when he discovered the Chamber of Repose, it was as easy as another and one, two, three, four, five, and six. And visit, after visit, the memories flowed back into him. His head shook in pain, pounding. But Xemnas smirks and laughs at the pain, and goes right back into unleashing the memories until he faints from exhaustion.
It was all a puzzle that he was determined to solve. He was not given a whole story, only pieces.
A young female with azure eyes and blue hair looking troubled.
"What else is Darkness but hate and rage?"
A young boy that looks strikingly similar to number XIII.
"I'm asking you.. as a friend, put an end to me."
A tall old man, with bright gold eyes and a sinister grin.
"And now it is your darkness that shall be the ark that sustains me!"
And all of his emotions rushed into Xemnas. Anger, hate, rage, and sorrow. The emotions are so intense, but Xemnas isn't actually feeling them. They are merely a memory, of what he felt.
For the remainder of the day, Xemnas can't help but remember the immense sorrow the boy felt. A young naive boy of nineteen, tricked into falling into the Darkness.
He felt sympathy, or as much as he could. For Xemnas was not light or Darkness - he was nothing, only longing for a heart and had a goal that he now realized was not his own, but a goal that nonetheless he would complete.
Xemnas's thoughts are not his own, and his destiny was predetermined before he even existed. He was to complete Kingdom Hearts, and simply enough, die. For the true Xehanort could once again exist.
And during the final battle with the Keyblade Wielders, Xemnas was taken aback by all of the voices in his head.
"Fight!" Eraqus and Terra cries, while Xehanort simply just chuckles.
And when the battle took a turn for the worst, the voices begin to changed, sounding more eager and urgent.
"You're not going to win, retreat!" Eraqus yells, his voice booming in his head.
"Stay, do not give up now." Xehanort coos in his ear.
And Xemnas began to learn that unlocking all of the memories was a curse. He had unleashed them from their Birth by Sleep, and it was predetermined for him over a decade ago, to win this battle.
"My knowledge.." He begins, "is a curse."
And as Sora's Keyblade slices through him, he hears the cry of the Keyblade Masters in his head, and the joyous laughter from Xehanort…
Xemnas realizes something - he doesn't really care anymore.
