challenge: tragedy
title: Good night, sweet prince
word count: 161
notes: wherein my obsession with shakespeare meets my obsession with kh; namely, riku. probably not so great, but it was the first thing to pop into my head. *shrug*
"I could be bounded in a nutshell and count myself a king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams." - William Shakespeare, Hamlet
Countless worlds, an endless universe of possibility and adventure, things he had never even dreamed of... that's what he had been searching for.
It was no use - no matter what he tried, he had always felt so trapped, suffocated. The warmth of the sun, the smiling faces, the perfect peacefulness of it all... He couldn't stand it. All he had wanted, more than anything, was to break free from their happy little prison, just once.
He hated irony.
God, what he wouldn't give to be back on that island with Sora, and even Kairi - back on that beach. Anywhere but here, where it didn't matter whether his eyes were open or closed. He couldn't tell the difference anymore.
Here, there was no such thing as sleep - there was only darkness.
