How Long Have You Been With Us
too longSince not quite the beginning! I used to write under the name shining_heart and remember the times before we voted on the winner. LOOK, I'M SHOWING MY AGE.Favorite Thing About KH Is everything an option?
except for xehanortSeriously, KH came out in america when I was 14, was just getting into video games and had recently prodded at FF VII and FF VIII. I remember the first time I heard about it was in one of the few gaming magazines my grocery store carried and all I saw was SQUARE SOFT AND DISNEY TEAM UP. I didn't really care about Square/know enough about it to care, but DISNEY GAME OH MY GOD AND THESE KIDS, THESE KIDS LOOK PRECIOUS. I remember that year I got KH and a PS2 for christmas and my brother and I watched the opening cutscene completely slack-jawed. It was beautiful and magical and everything about it evoked all these FEELINGS and for the first time in my life, I began to actively write.More than that, Kingdom Hearts has been there for me through all my hardest times. When we got notification that my cousin took her own life, I was playing KH. (I was in traverse town and I wasn't paying attention after mom told me and one of the heartless got me and it wasn't until that game over screen flashed up that it really hit me)
Beyond that, some amazing things happen with the characters. Just the visceral love and affection all these friends feel for each other is almost overwhelming. Don't we all want to think we have friends that would give up their heart for us/we would give up our heart for them?
And lets, just for a moment, talk about the sheer amount of grey area. Where these characters make these questionable choices and decisions but they do it because they believe they're doing what's best (Eraqus, I'm looking at you)
And of course, without the series, this comm wouldn't exist. Which means my life would be all the poorer for all the friends I would never have met.
Other Fandoms of Interest atm: Doctor Who, Host Club, and Sailor Moon mainly. Keri is evil and getting me involved with Hawkeye and I read a lot of Lizzie Bennett Diaries fic and various disney movie fics.
Where can we find you on the interwebs my writing can be found here (living_tales.livejournal.com), also at ao3 under the same name and tumblr but for some reason I no can has links?
Anything Else I'm so happy to be part of this ♥

Date: 2013-01-30 10:50 pm (UTC)Most of the cast seem to make questionable choices for ostensibly good reasons (yeah, including you, proper Ansem), but it kind of makes you wonder why nobody ever communicates. BBS probably could’ve been solved within one turn if the three of them had just talked. But as it’s my favourite game, I probably shouldn’t complain!

Favorite Thing About KH The ridiculous plot or lack thereof. Axel's stupid face. ROXAS. Destiny Trio! Being the one woman Larxene fan club. Nobodies in general. The tiny beautiful corner of fandom I've managed to nestle myself in.
Other Fandoms of Interest Lately it's comics (pre-boot DC, Marvel, and Image), Assassin's Creed, Ouran, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, Doctor Who, and, uh, anything else that stumbles into my path.

Date: 2013-01-27 06:31 am (UTC)How Long Have You Been With Us: I first wrote for the comm in challenge 275, which is also the only one I've won, but I've been watching the community since before challenge 100. I started writing KH drabbles for this community because a)it's a community of quality writers whose opinions I respect, and b)I wanted to grow in my confidence about my creative writing, which up until recently has been nonexistent and is now slightly better than nonexistent, thanks to y'all being awesome! <3
Favorite Thing About KH: Kingdom Hearts actually reflects a lot of things about my spiritual beliefs, to a degree that's genuinely strange. I have this very specific set of metaphors that I have used for almost two decades to describe the way I think the universe works, and if one were to take those metaphors and make them literal, you'd get much of what we already know to be true about the KH universe. It's really odd. It's also why I have such a passionate hatred for both Xehanort and Eraqus. End result, KH1 hit me like an absolute shit-ton of bricks because I didn't know what to expect, and grand total I think there may not be another work of fiction out there that has made me cry more, both good-crying and not-so-good-crying. The only game in the series that hasn't at least made me tear up is Re:Coded. Also, it's one of the few series where I tend to like the main characters. Also, I grew up with classic Disney movies.
Other Fandoms of Interest: There are a number of fandoms I read, but this is the only one for which I write. Like I said, I haven't had much confidence in my ability to write creatively. Though I may jump into Hellblazer fandom, just because the series is ending and fandom is the only way there will be more stories that don't suck (dammit, DC Comics). I might write in more fandoms if there were more of a place for fan essays; I'm plenty confident in my analytical and critical writing. My other major game fandoms for reading are Fire Emblem and Vagrant Story, which is easily my favorite single game of all time.
Where can we find you on the interwebs: You pretty much can't, sadly, except my LJ which is usually friends-locked, and I almost never take friend requests from people I don't know personally. I am a high-school teacher IRL, and the internet is fraught with peril for teachers these days, what with an actual case likely to go to the Supreme Court of Michigan soon to determine whether teachers actually retain full First Amendment rights. End result, I am extraordinarily paranoid about what can be connected back to me. It's also why I will never post anything NC-17, even should I eventually have the confidence to do so; it's not that I have a problem with it, I don't at all, but I would be terrified for years afterward that I would be fired for writing pornography, and that's just not worth it. As you can see, I'm not shy about sharing facts, but nothing will ever have my real name attached to it.

How Long Have You Been With Us Forever and ever? According to the folder which contains all the drabble entries, my first was 135, so. Wow.
Favorite Thing About KH I have to pick one? D: ...I refuse! I favorite all the things!
Except all the fic which is basically Leon/Cloud or some variation thereof, which really ought to be its own game and not clutter up my hunts for good fic to read. The heroes - especially Riku in the first game and then 3D, where he finally started to display the potential I'd hoped he'd achieve after CoM. I was so disappoint when he got reset in KH2 because of Sora's memories - but now 3D has happened and pretty much makes it all better. :D But Sora is lovely and fluffy and basically, say, if he got turned into a Dream Eater he'd be a Meow Wow. And still, there are things like his line to Neku : "Not saying it is. But you could make it easier." I am... (despite bouncy internet squeeing) not-a-Sora, and it thrilled me to hear him acknowledging that not everyone has his gift for making friends. And Kairi, for not being a completely idiotic damsel in distress, although fanfic tends to treat her better - here's hoping she gets more character development in the next game. And Namine, because if she still has her power over memories, well. Xehanort has connected himself to Sora and she is heavy weaponry. *fingers crossed and all the grabby hands for that*If I get started on the Twilight Town kids I'll run out of room. :x And Axel and Roxas and Xion and oooh god Saix. Poor, poor Isa/Saix and all the jealousies and the rescuing that needs to happen.
If he has to be beat down during said rescue, well. Kind of earned it.And the villains! OMGiant, the villains and the whole convoluted tangled mess of their existences, and how much most of them really deserved what happened in spite of being basically tricked into things by Xehanort - the man has a knack for finding kindred spirits. And Xehanort. I cannot even with all the squee. Mostly because I really, really love intelligence and ruthlessness in a villain? (Well, intelligence in anyone.) I like being able to admire his ideas and the execution thereof, and play with examining things in fic, and still look forward to giving him a well-deserved beat down. (Seriously, I yelled at my 3ds near the end when he basically absconds on you. To the tune of 'get back here so I can kick your a**) And I do believe that he means to balance things, and that he's right that the Dark is being stifled too much - while the villains thereof run rampant and oooh I have rants there. It's just, for all the intelligence of his designs, he is still, fundamentally, Doing It Wrong. You can't just force reality into a hard reset and expect that to fix everything. :P
For Doing It Right, see : Riku!
Other Fandoms of Interest Glitch (RIP, adorable game), Avatar: The Last Airbender, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (my first and forever fandom), BBC's Sherlock, Pokemon (primarily games), Yu-Gi-Oh (original manga and anime), Homestuck, Wreck-It Ralph, Parasite Eve, Breath of Fire 3 and 4, too many Final Fantasies, Legend of Zelda, Professor Layton (not up to speed on the games yet, unfortunately)... um. Lots of things? I really should make a list sometime.
Oh! And Rise of the Guardians by Dreamworks, as well as the books it was based off of. Another case of book and movie being very different, but both are quite awesome.
Where can we find you on the interwebs Not so much on LJ anymore, since I use the account mostly for this comm. ;) Dreamwidth, though - here i am (http://spoke.dreamwidth.org/).
And my writing (eventually) goes here: me again (http://archiveofourown.org/users/spoke)

Date: 2013-01-28 09:10 pm (UTC)How Long Have You Been With Us: I had to check this one! Apparently my first post was at the end of 2009, so just over three years, which makes me feel really old.
Favorite Thing About KH:
ALL THE THINGS.Birth by Sleep and almost everything in it, with the great exception of Rumble Racing. Terra, Aqua and Ven and their awesome yet kind of difficult friendship. Child!Ienzo’s innate creepiness. Riku and his Blindfold of Angst and how he was my very first favourite KH character. Axel and Roxas. That one Moogle in a trenchcoat. Lea and Isa and all the fallout of everything that happened. The sheer amount of headcanon and backstory that everyone can make up about this series of games, with all its worlds and characters, and just how much fun it’s been to explore all this over the years I’ve been in this fandom. Too many other things to mention.Oh, and the fact that Master Xehanort is BLATANTLY EVIL BUT NO ONE NOTICES.
Other Fandoms of Interest: The Final Fantasy series, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, Fullmetal Alchemist, Discworld, Good Omens, the recent Marvel movies, the Sherlock Holmes films and BBC’s Sherlock. KH and FF probably count as my major ones though.
Where can we find you on the interwebs: Mostly here on LJ right now (most of my fics are public anyway), but also on fanfiction.net (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1876274/Synchrony) and (when I finally get around to uploading!) on AO3 (http://archiveofourown.org/users/Synchrony).

Date: 2013-01-30 05:58 pm (UTC)How Long Have You Been With Us: Uh. Maybe about a year now? Not really sure.
Favorite Thing About KH: Perhaps my favorite thing is that you can think as lightly or deeply about the series as you want - the implications are up to the player to decide.
Disney has always been very dear to my heart and both they and Square seems to have a knack for creating heartfelt characters, people you wish you knew.
Other Fandoms of Interest: Mainly Naruto, Pokemon and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Where can we find you on the interwebs: At Fanfiction.net, same name. :)

Date: 2013-02-01 01:44 am (UTC)Who are you: 06seconds_left! Also silver-kin. Also Han, to some peeps.
How Long Have You Been With Us: My first entry was Challenge 201, which was in 2009. That makes it 4 years? Wow. That's a long time.
This comm will always have a special place in my heart. I first started properly writing when I discovered KH. I was looking for a safe place to upload stuff and I found this comm. It consisted of a group of people who wrote regularly (more or less) and who, more importantly, got along with each other. Everyone here is so nice. And so friendly. And amazing.
I just want to say, I love you all. You're all Amazing. If I ever met you guys in real life, I'd like to say that I'd run over and give you all hugs. But I'd probably get nervous and embarrassed and trip over my own feet in the process so if that ever happens, at least you'd know what I was trying to do.
Stay awesome, everyone!
Favorite Thing About KH: Everything. (Except maybe the constant return of Xehanort. It's irritating and I keep hoping to see some new villains with every new installment but it always goes back to him. Although that might be because of a plotline that I have yet to discover)
The first time I heard about this game was from my sister. She came back one day talking about some PS2 game that would feature some Final Fantasy and Disney. At that time, the only thing I could imagine was this huge Alice in Wonderland maze that the player (re: Mickey) would get stuck in, trying to find his way out, battling monsters along the way (and the occasional Squall trying to outrun and endless army of armed cards) But then we got the game, and it was nothing like that at all. It was just, so much better.
I like the constant theme of friendship in the game. That's something very important to me. I also love how they put the game together. The gameplay, the plot, the intertwining worlds, the characters. The Nobodies hold a special place in my heart. Forever. I love the millions of ideas the game has spawned and continues to inspire, the way so many people from all over the world can come together through one shared interest. It's amazing.
Other Fandoms of Interest: Homestuck. Doctor Who. Sherlock. Persona 3. Persona 4. Avatar, the Last Airbender. Legend of Korra. Bleach. One Piece. Naruto (up to a certain point) Fairy Tail. Psycho Pass. Darker than Black. The list goes on...
Where can we find you on the interwebs: I'm also on AO3 (http://archiveofourown.org/users/06seconds_left) and ff.net. (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/618642/silver-kin)
(and wow did that turn out super long)

Date: 2013-01-26 10:54 pm (UTC)How Long Have You Been With Us For only about a month, but I've had so much fun! I haven't posted anything for KH in years, but the weekly prompts here actually inspire me to write and finish things.
Favorite Thing About KH The warm, mushy friendship, the great community of fans who write and draw and create for the series, and the fact that such a crazy combination of Disney and Final Fantasy works! If you went back in time fifteen years and tried to tell people that this would be a thing, who would believe you?
Other Fandoms of Interest The Legend of Zelda series, Avatar (Not the blue people!) and... Mario! Paper Mario to be exact.
Where can we find you on the interwebs Everything I've ever posted for fandom in my life is here (http://www.fanfiction.net/~themangosity) ...I have no regrets. Well, maybe a few :p

Also I rediscovered my KH/Firefly verse and wow I can't believe that managed to come out of my head! I'm super rusty these days.
Anyway, you guys are great and I hope that I can participate in the next 300 challenges!
