Theme: Kodak Moments
Title:Winner, Victorious
Word Count: 397
Warnings: Longer than your usual drabble. I tried to cut it down, really I did. >>;
Cameras flashed in Sora's eyes, cheers filled his ears, and Sora soaked it all up until it tingled his skin. "We won! We won! ...I mean," he amended, "Of course we won." He grinned knowingly at Goofy who "ha-yuck"ed and tilted his hat down on his head.. which caused it to cover his eyes, so he tilted it back up, smiling.
"Don't get cocky," Donald said stiffly, crossing his arms. But even he was smiling.
Phil crossed in front of the three but didn't stop, continuing to a pyramid of four blocks. "Right this way."
Sora bounded up the platform, followed easily by Goofy. Donald struggled to climb up, even the lowest block taller than he was. Goofy pulling him up by the collar, and Donald launched into a brief but fuming rant. Sora grinned at them both, then around the stadium. He imagined an audience there in those empty stands: every indistinct face, every call of admiration and love and pride, and hundreds- no, thousands of cameras flashing bright enough to blind. Only a few feet off the ground, he felt higher than he'd ever been.
Phil plodded over, a gold trophy between his small hands. With Sora kneeling and leaning almost to the ground, Phil managed to pass the trophy up to the winners. "Congrats, kid. You won the Phil Cup." After passing it off, Phil walked a respectable distance away. Hercules leaned to his right and asked from the side of his mouth, "Phil, aren't those training crates they're standing on?" The satyr said nothing.
Goofy looked past Sora, "Now what world are we going to?"
On Sora's other side, Donald said moodily, "I don't know."
"I know where I'm gonna go!" Sora held the shining cup over his head, (The cameras were flashing like mad; the audience was chanting his name.) and he proclaimed, "I'm going to Disney World!"
Cameras continued flashing in Sora's mind even as the boxes on which the trio stood suddenly collapsed with a clattering of wood and a rising of sawdust. The stadium in Sora's mind gawked, horrified - then erupted in humiliating laughter. The golden cup rolled to the side, forgotten. A hoofed foot stopped its rolling. "That aughta knock 'em down a peg." There were groans and mutters of "get off me!" from the dusty pile. Phil turned to make his way back to the training grounds. "Rookies."
