notes; I haven't written properly for a while, so this is a little rusty.
“Squall’s a big fat meanie!” she wailed, tears running down and dripping off her chin, Aerith gently soaking her blistering hands in cold water. Yuffie sniffled and winced, wiping away snot on her sleeve. “It hurts.”
“I know it does, honey. But Leon wants you to be able to protect yourself.” Aerith took a tissue and wiped Yuffie’s cheeks and nose, and the younger girl stubbornly turned her head away.
“Why can’t he just protect me? I hate the shurikens Cid made for me. They aren’t cool anymore.”
“Well, Yuffie, sometimes he can’t be there. Sometimes, you have to fight…”
“I know, I know, Aerith.” A resigned sigh, breezing through already long bangs. “He...Rin...I’ll stop complaining. And I’ll try harder next time.”
Aerith smiled, ruffling Yuffie’s black hair. “Good girl.”
“But he’s still a big, fat meanie!”
