Title: As Silly As It Is
Challenge: Infatuation
Count: 142
Notes: Somehow, I think "that boy" is an awfully cold thing to call someone you cared for deeply as a friend through your entire childhood.
She lets out one long, bitter breath. A “huh”. A sigh of frustration, soft and angry.
Sand crunches under her shoes, the laces sloppily tied. Her red hair tangles in the strong ocean breezes, and even the odd sweep of it behind her ears doesn’t keep it from flying in her face. But she likes that wind, as frustrating as it is.
Somewhere, somehow, he might be feeling the same winds.
And even if he doesn’t, like logic reminds her, perhaps he’ll feel her enamour, despite how distance might like to fight that. She’s angry with distance, as silly as it is. For dividing them. One could even suggest she was angry with circumstance.
She’s angry because her mind is starting to fail her, and suddenly, she can’t even begin to remember who she is so infatuated with in the first place.
