"You...won't tell Sora about this. Will you?"
Riku snorted a not-laugh. "Sora likes you, Kairi." That said it all, as far as he was concerned.
"I know," she said, softly. "So. Promise me. Promise me you won't tell him."
He turned to look at her with that grin. That 'I hate you, but it's okay' grin. That same grin it felt like had been glued to his face for months now. "You don't trust me?"
She hesitated a beat too long, answering his question. "I don't know, Riku. You've changed, lately. So cold. You didn't used to be like this."
He turned back to the beckoning horizon. "Yeah, well. A lot of things are different now."
She started to cry, then. Like it was his fault. He hadn't asked her to confess her feelings to him just now, to bring this stupid love triangle they were in to a head the night before they were supposed to leave on the raft together.
The anger he'd been silently choking on for months finally started to slip out of Riku's control. "Look. Kairi. I care about Sora." Unlike you. "Hearing about this would hurt him. So don't worry. He won't hear about it from me. I swear." On light itself.
He left her where she was, fallen to her knees in the sand, crying. Because he hadn't accepted her feelings. How selfish. How completely stupid and typical. After what she'd almost done to Sora, he could've just...
Riku drove his fist against the unyielding tree trunk and glared off into the sunset. A storm was brewing beyond the horizon, out in the darkness. He could feel it. The darkness. The only place he didn't have to think about this anymore. He'd never been afraid, but now he welcomed it.
Sora...
...would be happy enough if he left him behind, out here in the light. With Kairi.
It was raining.
No, it wasn't.
Riku wiped his cheeks, angrily, and turned back to the fading of the light. He welcomed the storm.

Makes you seriously want to know what it is they're vowing to never tell.
That's the trouble with drabbles: they're too short to get everything across, most of the time.
Woooow... I love the way this is written. How it flows and his conclusion to the whole thing.
Aww, you're so nice. ^^
