Notes: Concerning the first three summons of KH, our trinity, and those Traverse Town residents. A sleepy evening in the Traverse Town Accessory Shop.
Bambi and Dumbo liked Aerith best, and that evening the young faun had nestled its head close against the flower-girl’s lap, and Dumbo had curled up near Aerith’s boots like a vastly overgrown kitten. They really were just babies and they adored her with so much love, Bambi had conjured up so many bubbles that he’d almost put out the fire that crackled in the Accessory Shop hearth.
“They lost their mothers, you know,” Aerith explained quietly.
Leon, over on a chair across the table, spoke up. “Makes sense that they’d like you then.”
“Why do you say that?”
Leon shrugged, saying nothing in reply to the little smile that Aerith gave him.
Simba had settled down next to Leon, and they sat there like two brooding kings, with tousled manes and cool gazes that warmed beneath the light of the fire. Sora, Goofy, and Donald had crashed on the long couch in front of the glass table, heavy-lidded and worn-out after their last trip. Yuffie sprawled out asleep on the rug, and Cid sat behind the Shop counter, chewing on a bit of straw.
“You kids brought a whole circus in here,” he remarked gruffly.
Aerith gave a light, tinkling laugh.
“We’ve always been a circus,” Aerith replied. “And Sora keeps bringing back more friends to join us.” She scratched Bambi affectionately. “I look forward to meeting them.”

Date: 2006-03-17 05:14 pm (UTC)I like your comparisons of Aerith with the mothers of Bambi and Dumbo and the comparison between Leon and Simba. I also love the way that Aerith refers to the whole group as a bit of a circus, full of misfits.

Date: 2006-03-17 07:26 pm (UTC)Have you seen the FF7 Movie, Advent Children? Pretty much after that, it seemed only natural to set up a mothering sort of relationship between Aerith and the two summons if they ever happened to be in the same room together.
As for Leon and Simba...they were made perfect for each other :D

Date: 2006-03-17 08:01 pm (UTC)I am interested in seeing the movie, sure. But I don't want to have to go to the trouble of getting someone to download it. I'm on dial-up here. Yuck. So it is really impossible for me to do it personally.
