As Mr. Garrison would say, "Well spank my ass and call me Charlie!" There was such tough competition this week, I totally did not expect to win with that silly humour piece. It's great to know so many of you enjoyed it.
Before I get on with the next theme, since this is the first opportunity I've had to say so without sounding like Sour Grapes, I'm wondering if it might be possible in the future to at least let us know what the second and third place drabbles were for the week?
For me it gets a little discouraging not being able to see if my piece was voted for at all. I don't mind not winning, but sometimes it's like writing into a void with the system here the way it is.
Anyhow, just a thought for the mods.
It'd be hard to beat
dejablue7's theme for last week (which was utter brilliance), so I'm not going to try. This week's theme [#56] is Missing You.
So many separations take place in the course of the Kingdom Hearts story: separation of loved ones from each other, separation of the characters from their home worlds, even separation of the Heartless from their hearts! From Donald's secret yearning to see Daisy again to Cid's endless quest for a few good gummi blocks ("You can't HANDLE the !#@* truth!") and everything in between, you have plenty to choose from.
This challenge will run through next Sunday, March 26th. I hope everyone can go forth and have some fun with it!

[MOD]
Date: 2006-03-19 05:41 am (UTC)Previously, the original system was to let the challenger choose the winner. It worked well if the challenger posted their choice on time, sometimes they don't, and it becomes quite a headache for us because we have no idea how to contact the challenger to get them to post their choice. So we implemented this voting system mostly for the convenience of having a regular challenge session.
But your question was if we could also announce the first and second runner-ups, and we prefer not to because while this is a challenge community, it's mostly because we mods are too lazy to keep thinking up challenge prompts and decide that heck, why not do a fun challenge-style comm when we get the
suckerwinner to choose a theme where everyone can write to?If we post up the first and second runner-ups, the entire comm could take on a very competitive bent that we're not sure we like. People would then be wondering, hey, maybe I got in second place or third place. And if you think that it's discouraging to not know where you stand when only the winner is announced, imagine how much more discouraging it would be if you don't make the first or second runner-up places as well. This is why we don't release the results to the comm, nor do we announce any other winners besides the one who got the most points.
The purpose of the comm is to have fun writing, not to win, or see how much "better" you had fared with other writers. Winning, and having the privilege to choose a challenge prompt, is just a nicety. We're all here to have fun writing, aren't we?
