Ahhhh wow, this is a lovely way to wake up in the morning ♥ Thank you, everyone!
Right now, I am in Maryland acting as Maid of Honor in one of my bestbest friends' wedding--and it got me thinking about society. There are so many ceremonies and events that, however irrational or silly or extra extra expensive, have become permanently ingrained into our cultures. There's the birthday party, wherein we celebrate the day of our birth every year with friends and family presents galore; there's Sunday church in Christian faith, and Sunday brunch at IHOP afterwards, with pancakes and eggs and gallons of sweet maple syrup; there's the hazing ritual in college fraternities, where boys spend hours forcing poison down their friends' throats and embarrassing them in ways they will remember for the rest of their lives; and then of course there's the wedding, where couples spend months of their time, their smiles and their tears, to shape for themselves a single day that celebrates their love--and their empty bank accounts. There are smaller rituals, things like secret club initiations, chocolates on Valentine's day, or a kiss before sleep to the one you'll wrap your arms around. These are all traditions--things passed down through the generations, sometimes completely irrational, but always sacred to the people who embrace it.
This week's challenge is Traditions. Delve into your own lives, explore your culture's traditions, bring them alive in the Kingdom Hearts-verse--and have your entries in by Monday, October 29th! I can't wait to see what you all come up with!
