Challenge: [066] Rhyme
Title: The Name Game
Word Count: 414
Spoilers: None for the games unless you don't know who's who in Organization 13.
Notes:Comedy, mostly about Axel and Demyx, mention of others.
Axel had seen it coming ever since the Superior called him in to meet number nine and, to say hello, Demyx had promptly burst into song.
They’d waited for him to finish, and with an inscrutable look, Xemnas had told Axel to take their newest member around and introduce him to the others.
The first one they’d come across was Saix and Axel knew this would turn out to be a trainwreck.
Axel liked trainwrecks.
They burned so prettily.
"Banana-fana fo-Fikes,
me-my-mo Mi-ikes,
Sai-iix!"
Demyx finished up with a showy little riff and struck a pose, then gave number seven an endearing, yet clueless grin. Saix stared at him for a long moment, then looked down at the instrument.
"What a curious weapon," he murmured, wrapping a careful hand around the neck of the sitar.
Demyx, the idiot, let him take it. Axel shifted his weight.
"It's not exactly a weapon," Demyx said cheerfully.
"No?" Saix asked, rolling his eyes up to the other Nobody's face.
Axel just barely yanked Demyx out of the way as Saix spun the instrument up above his head and brought it crashing down on the spot Demyx had been standing, not once- but twelve times. Axel counted them. Demyx winced at the snap of breaking wood and the discordant twang of strings.
When it was over, Saix gave them a bland look, pointedly dropping the five inches of neck on the sitar-littered floor. He stepped around the pile of splinters and walked off.
Axel leaned over, examining it with exaggerated care.
"...I think it's broken."
He heard a sigh, and looked up to see Demyx pouting. Axel tsked and clapped him on the shoulder.
"Don't worry about it," he said, pulling the other Nobody down the hallway. "We can get you another-" he pulled up short at the glimmer of magic in Demyx's hand, water particles appearing out of nowhere to form the exact same sitar, "-one...."
Axel looked over his shoulder. There was nothing there.
"I gotta figure out a way to form these things already tuned," Demyx was saying, fiddling with the new instrument. Axel raised his eyebrows at the younger Nobody. "So who's next?" Demyx asked. He gave Axel a sidelong glance with more than a hint of mischief in it.
Axel blinked. His smile lit and grew across his face. "Let's go down to the labs!" he enthused, throwing an arm around Demyx's shoulders. "I think Vexen would just love to hear your song!"

Date: 2006-06-21 01:53 pm (UTC)*grins* I liked that line of Axel's so much that I nearly ended it there- but the whole point was that Demyx had a regenerating sitar. XD
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^^
